In case you were wondering if actor Shemar Moore is gay, he says he’s not: ‘I love women’

Shemar Moore isn’t one of those actors who will ignore gay rumors.

The former Criminal Minds and The Young and the Restless star’s sexuality has been speculated about for nearly a decade.

The extraordinarily handsome former model is 46 and never been married.

‘I just think it’s all silly,’ he tells BET of the rumors. ‘If you’re gay, you’re gay. I’m not, and I know that and I’m very comfortable with who I am and I love women. I’ve dated plenty of them.

‘If you think I’m gay, send your girlfriend over to my house for the weekend and see what happens. For real. You can call that arrogant if you want to. I just call it confident. You can call me whatever you want, but you don’t know me.’

Moore is prolific on social media and earlier this year he took to Instagram to address comments and assumptions being made about he and a male friend he was traveling with in Canada (see below).

He tells BET: ‘I have fans that are gay, men that come up to me, and they’re inspired by me, or they like me as an entertainer, and when they want to give me a hug or take pictures with me, what, am I supposed to not put my arm around them or stand next to them?

‘And if the man next to me in the picture is gay, that makes me gay? That’s just simpleminded ignorance, and I don’t play that.’

Moore recently left Criminal Minds after 11 seasons and is stars and directed the new film The Bounce Back now out in theaters

Yup… I said it!!! Let the comments begin… 🙊😷 I got NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR MY FANS… PERIOD!!! 😘

5 Remarks

  1. Is it just me or does he protest just a little too much?

  2. “If you think I’m gay, send your girlfriend over to my house for the weekend and see what happens.” Ha, ha! I love it!

And nope! Never thought he was gay or even wondered about it.

  3. He’s been telling people he’s not gay since I was in elementary school. I’m now in college.

  4. I never thought he was gay. I liked him on “Criminal Minds”, and I thought he was cool. I had “friended” him on Facebook, and he seemed to be fairly alright for a while, until be seemed to become obsessed with his “Baby-Girls”. To the point of almost being obnoxious about it, bordering on homophobic.
I finally “Un-friended” him. He isn’t so hot that I needed to constantly hear about how much he loves only his “Baby-Girl” fans, and only his Girl fans. Yeah, whatever. So who cares about him or his being gay. I hope that if he is, he stays waaaay in the closet.

  5. Personally I think that is a poor way of clear things up if there is a need for such a thing. I would never trust someone who needs to “defend” his sexuality (you don’t need to defend anything, sexuality is neither a crime nor something you owe to anyone else) and worse if you say things like “send your girlfriend over to my house” (imagine if someone offered the same to us: “send me your boyfriend over” to prove they like men), mmm, women (people) are not objects to send to test someone’s desires or “performance” and that doesn’t necessarily exclude anything else. What about bisexuals? I mean, the whole thing sounds bad, dated and clumsy. If you really need to say something just end it up with your preference, don’t protest too much because you are giving others an imaginary power they don’t have. The guy is very good looking whether he likes men, women, both, trans, all, whoever. As an actor I barely know him (maybe he is great, don’t know).
