Hugh Jackman’s new film role to be quite a “Show”
Yeah, he’s a good Wolverine and all but I’ve been dying to see Hugh Jackman in a musical.
He won The Tony Award for The Boy From Oz but I’ve never seen it so it’s great to hear that he has signed on to star in a movie musical about the life of P.T. Barnum called The Greatest Showman on Earth.
Hugh has just been glorious singing and dancing as the three-time Tony host and as the host of this year’s Academy Awards and there must are not that many stars these days who have that kind of range.
Variety reports that the screenplay is being written by Sex and the City alum Jenny Bicks with British singer-songwriter Mika is in talks to write music and lyrics.
Barnum’s life inspired the 1980 Broadway musical. The film will cover his career and love life, including his infatuation with singer Jenny Lind – aka the Swedish Nightingale. The Lind role is being written with Anne Hathaway in mind. Remember what great chemistry the two had when they performed together at the Oscars?
Sounds like a winner already!
