“How I Met Your Mother” season four and “Cagney & Lacey: The Menopause Years” out on DVD today!

How I Met Your Mother: The Legendary Season Four

Cagney & Lacey ran on CBS from 1982 through 1989 and starred the great Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless.

One or the other won the Emmy during every season the show was on the air.

The show was greatly missed once it left the air and Daly went on to triumph on Broadway in Gypsy winning the Tony and Gless starred in the splendid The Trials of Rosie O’Neil and, of course, Queer As Folk.

Five years after their series together left the air, Gless and Daly reteamed for a series of two-hour Cagney & Lacey movies that aired in 1994, 1995 and 1996. A total of four TV movies were made and aired on CBS. The DVD collection includes all of the movies as well as interviews with Gless, Daly, producer Barney Rosenzweig and series co-creator Barbara Corday.

Meanwhile, the season five premiere of CBS’s comedy How I Met Your Mother aired last week, the day after the Emmys hosted by one of the show’s stars, Neil Patrick Harris.

I’d like to say I think Neil was robbed of the Emmy (losing to Jon Cryer) after being nominated for the third  straight year. I’d like to say that but the truth is, I missed much of season four so I’m gonna have to get this DVD!
