Hillary Clinton read insulting Donald Trump quote about Rosie O’Donnell on TV – Rosie is disappointed

Regular viewers of The View, which I used to be, found out back in 2006-07 just how cruel Donald Trump could be with his personal insults.

During Rosie’s first stint as a co-host on The View, she ridiculed Trump for his handling of a Miss USA controversy calling him a ‘snake-oil salesman’ and mocked his hairstyle.

Trump responded by unleashing a tirade of insults aimed at O’Donnell’s weight (she has since lost more than 50 pounds) and has called her a ‘loser’ various times.

These insults were brought up last year by Fox’s Megyn Kelly during one of the presidential debates for Republican hopefuls. Then they unexpectedly last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live when the host asked his guest, Hillary Clinton, to pull out random Trump quotes out of a hat and read them aloud to see if Clinton would laugh.

She didn’t laugh when she read: ‘If I were running The View, I’d fire Rosie O’Donnell. I mean, I’d look at her right in that fat, ugly face of hers (and) I’d say, “Rosie, you’re fired.”‘

I’ve covered this today over at Gay Star News so please hop over there to watch the video (let me know what you think!) then I did a second story after Rosie tweeted her reaction.

3 Remarks

  1. “Trump responded by unleashing a tirade of insults aimed at O’Donnell’s weight (she has since lost more than 50 pounds) and has called her a ‘loser’ various times.”

Hi Greg. I haven’t seen the video, although my first reaction was that Jimmy Kimmel is an asshole to have a candidate for the Presidency read such an ugly comment. But it bothered me that you had to comment that O’Donnell has lost more than 50 pounds since that ugly comment, as if that was important. The implication that I took from that was that, while the comment was ugly, it’s even more offensive since she actually lost 50 pounds, which suggests that maybe it wasn’t quite as ugly before she lost the pounds.

I’m sorry, I’m probably not saying this right, but I did not like how you phrased this entire post, as if Rosie’s weight loss had anything whatsoever to do with what an incredibly mean and belittling comment Racist Trump said.

If Rosie was the biggest person that ever existed in the history of the universe, that still would not justify Racist Trump reducing her to “fat” and “ugly”. The “she’s lost fifty pounds since then” comment just seems to justify his comment but explain that it is no longer accurate.

I’m sorry, I’m probably making no sense at all, but the way you worded this did not hit me right at all. Racist Trump’s twitter was not appropriate period, and the fact that she lost weight afterwards has nothing to do with anything whatsoever.

  2. Again, I’m sorry, it’s late and I’m tired and I need to go to bed, but what was the point of saying she’s lost 50+ pounds since his ugly, ugly remark? As if it might have been somewhat justified, but now that she’s lost some weight, it’s somehow more wrong?

  3. Not a fan of Rosie’s for he most part, but I am truly sick and tired of her being made fun of. These was a cheap shot by Kimmel. He does that a lot on his show. I have no respect for Clinton or Trump. Who the hell do you vote for when you can’t stand either candicate?
