Highlights from opening weekend of Los Angeles LGBT Center’s historic Anita May Rosenstein Campus
My day job dominated what was a glorious weekend.
It was an epic celebration of the opening of the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s new Anita May Rosenstein Campus. Saturday night was a party for the hundreds of donors who contributed to this first-of-its-kind facility that includes a new senior center and youth center, housing, and is the new headquarters for what is already the largest LGBT organization in the world.
I was stationed at the event’s rainbow carpet arrivals area both days and got to interview Lily Tomlin, Billie jean King, US Congressman Adam Schiff, lead donor Anita May Rosenstein, philanthropist and major donor Ariadne Getty, LA City Councilman David Ryu, actresses Joely Fisher and Alyson Stoner, and actors Wilson Cruz, Darryl Stephens, Michael Hitchcock, Jason Stuart, and Bex Taylor-Klaus, among others.
Kathy Griffin and Tomlin did comedy routines and musical performers included Alexandra Billings, Brian Justin Crum, Betty Who, Frankie Grande,, Shangela and Trans Chorus of Los Angeles.
In addition to Schiff and Ryu, other elected officials who spoke included LA Mayor Eric Garcetti and LA County Sheila Kuehl.
I’ll do a proper post later but for now here is some of what I’ve posted on my Instagram. Follow me there if you aren’t already!
