Happy birthday to the great Cyndi Lauper whose “True Colors” is an LGBTQ anthem for the ages

Today is Cyndi Lauper’s 67th birthday and I wish her the very best on this and every day.

Cyndi, whose sister is gay, has long been one of our most important straight allies and we love her for that and for being one of the more authentic stars around. Love, love, love her!

I think Cyndi’s True Colors is one of the best songs ever about accepting and embracing yourself. Here are some of the lyrics and a video of Miss Lauper singing thos most wonderful of songs::

You with the sad eyes
don’t be discouraged
oh I realize
it’s hard to take courage
in a world full of people
you can lose sight of it all
and the darkness inside you
can make you fell so small

But I see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that’s why I love you
so don’t be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow

One Remark

  1. She has been one of our strongest and most outspoken supporters for decades. She’s a treasure to our community and the country.
