Happy Birthday to k.d. Lang! let the day get away from me without wishing a very happy birthday to the great k.d. Lang who turns 48 years old today.

The Grammy winner’s full name is Kathryn Dawn Lang but that’s just not near as catchy as k.d.!

Although already a big country-music star in Canada, k.d. did not become widely known to US audiences until the late 80s when she went on tour as one of Roy Orbison’s three female backup singers. He then chose her to record a duet of Crying with him and it won them a Grammy.

k.d. won a second Grammy in 1989 for a country music album then mainstream success came in 1992 with the smash adult contemporary pop album Ingenue which include her biggest hit Constant Craving. She won another Grammy for that album. A fourth Grammy came in 2003 for k.d.’s duet album with Tony Bennett called A Wonderful World.

Here’s to a wonderful talent!

Here is video of KD singing a stunning version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.

This is KD’s appearance a few years ago with Dame Edna Everage on the The Dame Edna Treatment. It’s a hoot!

Dude, it’s quite well known that she likes her name spelled “k.d. lang”, all lower-case letters! Silly rabbit! hahaha!!!
