Happy birthday to Broadway star Anthony Rapp!
Last night saw the LA debut of Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp in Acoustically Speaking: A 20 Year Friendship at Catalina Jazz Club. It was Pascal’s birthday and we sang to him at the end of the show and there was a birthday cake. I imagine that at the end of tonight’s show Rapp got the same treatment since today is his birthday. He turns 45! Rapp is best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in the Broadway production of Rent in 1996 and later for reprising the role in the film version and the Broadway Tour of Rent in 2009. He also performed the role of Charlie Brown in the 1999 Broadway revival of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and originated the role of Lucas in the musical If/Then in 2014. Below is Rapp and fellow Rent alum Pascal doing a song together from their terrific show. Enjoy!
