Happy 69th Birthday to the supreme Mary Wilson!
Mary Wilson, a founding member of The Supremes and the only person who was in the group during its entire run, celebrates her 69th birthday today.
Much has been made of her long-running feud with Diana Ross which is a pity because we all did want that reunion to happen – but it will not.
Mary may not be a superstar like Diana but she is a talent who has managed to sustain a career in showbiz for 50-plus years.
Even after her childhood pal Ross left the Supremes in 1970, Mary stayed with the group through various incarnations through 1977. I’m posting some videos from that 1970-77 period because Mary looks so joyful, like she loved being a Supreme more than anything.
And it’s clear that once Ross was gone, the other girls shared the spotlight more with each other and became a true group the way the Supremes were in the early years.

Sam says:
Happy Birthday, Mary…you are dearly loved and Supremely the BEST!
Chip says:
Happy Birthday to Mary! She is now, especially, and was then a better singer than Ross. It was a travesty the way Diana treated the others. They were both better singers than she was. They were equally good performers. I think we all know why Diana ended up being out front and why she received so much support from the company.
