We already knew what a great designer he was but boy, his 2010 directorial debut, A Single Man, was well beyond anyone’s expectations.

Okay, I’m going to share once again my anecdote about when I made a great big fool of myself when I met Tom on the red carpet of the 2008 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.

I just lost my head when he was suddenly standing in front of me and said: “Here’s Tom Ford, THE Tom Ford. Oh, you really are this handsome.”

Thankfully, he played along: “Awe…you’re a FLIRT! Good! Go ahead! Flirt away!”

But I quickly regained my professional composure and managed to conduct an interview about his being at the awards to present an award to the late photographer Herb Ritts which was accepted by his friend, Cindy Crawford. Tom himself had been honored by GLAAD in 2007.

   I know he’s a big celeb, but he’s also a down to earth nice guy. I met him and his partner in a restaurant years ago when he was doing double duty at YSL. He actually invited me to the show.
