Happy 40th Birthday to Chastity Bono

We fell in love with her during her adorable appearances on that 70s variety show that starred her parents. You’ve heard of them, right? Sonny Bono and Cher.

But there’s been a lot more of life for Chastity Bono who, after a career as a singer, came out on the cover of The Advocate in 1995. She’s an intelligent and thoughtful woman who’s first book, Family Outing, was of particular help to me at a certain point in my life. Ironically, the only time I ever interviewed Chastity was back in 1999 when I was the restaurant industry reporter for the Los Angeles Times and I did a profile on a popular Long Beach restaurant owned by her sister, Christy Bono. (They have different mothers, obviously).  I greatly admire what Chastity has done with her life and with her fame and wish her many happy and healthy years ahead.
