Happy 34th Birthday to singing star Clay Aiken! Let’s celebrate with a few of his musical performances

Clay Aiken turns 34 today and I have to say, he has grown to become a very fine man.

I’m so impressed with how articulate and thoughtful he has been whether it’s discussing ex-gay reparative therapy on The Dr. Oz Show or LGBT equality on Face the Nation, Clay has shown that he is a force to be reckoned with.

(I’ll give him a free pass for going on creepy Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice earlier this year)

But what Clay does best of all, is sing. Whether it’s on Broadway in Spamalot or on one of his hit albums, he sings one helluva number.

Here are three performances I especially like:

  4. Thank you for the birthday tribute to Clay. You chose 3 of my favorite performances as well. Clay not only has a beautiful voice with an amazing range, but you can see he has a comedic talent as well. I urge people to see him “live!” There’s nothing like it.

  5. Thank you for your kind words about Clay and the Happy Birthday to him. He truly is a fine man with an amazing talent, a big heart for children, wit, and can be so funny! I really like your choices of performances. Saw him last night at the DPAC in Durham — his 2012 Joyful Noise Tour. Beautiful heartfelt performance — perfection!

  6. Clay Aiken is intelligent, articulate, a comedian and an amazing singer.

Beyond that is his goal to make a difference in the world. His work with UNICEF, GLSEN and the National Inclusion Project is is remarkable.

Yes…..he is “a force to be reckoned with.”

  7. Excellent issues altogether, you simply gained a emblem new reader. What may you suggest about your put up that you simply made a few days in the past? Any certain?

  8. Wonderful article about Clay Aiken and you are right he has grown to be a very fine man. One of the best voices out there, funny and quite the entertainer. A big heart when it comes to helping children. The 2012 Joyful Noise Tour is amazing. If you get a chance to see it, go you will love it.

  9. Thanks, Greg, for your article about Clay. I believe you have always been supportive of him. Yes, he is quite a man & I hope he continues to speak his mind about the issues close to his heart. LGBT rights, improving life through UNICEF, the inclusion of children, & other causes he espouses. I did have to hold my nose during CApp everytime DT was on but Clay did a great job. Love the clips you chose!!!

  10. Thanks so much for this great tribute to Clay Aiken! I’ve been a fan since Idol and love that he’s not only a great singer, a quick and clever wit, an intelligent speaker and advocate, and a wonderful humanitarion…he’s also an all-round nice guy.

  14. Thank you for this article. I agree that Clay is a fine man who lends his voice to support many causes that involve human rights–UNICEF, GLSEN and his own foundation, The National Inclusion Project.

Wishing him continued and well deserved success in all of his endeavors.

You should try to get to one of his shows–his Joyful Noise 2012 Tour is wonderful!!

  15. Nice article on Clay, and how nice of you to wish him a Happy Birthday. Thanks as well for the video clips. Clay is a great singer/entertainer. If you get a chance to see Clay on Tour…do yourself a favor and go see him. His concerts are great!!!!!

  16. WOW! What a tremendous voice and stage presence! Clay can sing anything he wishes, and do a stupendous job. Since you featured HOME, please look for Magic Changes from the Broadway Backwards show. It was amazing.

Wonderful guy with a boatload of charisma, and I couldn’t wish him a happier birthday. Loved him on Celebrity Apprentice too, and he surely should have won. Think the winner was pre-determined there, as there was no evidence to support the result.

  17. Thanks for the nice article on Clay Aiken.

I always thought he was a nice young man with a great voice on American Idol and he’s retained all of his good qualities. Has gotten better with age, still a great looking, great sounding guy. Kudos to him for all his outreach work.

    Happy Birthyday, Clay!!

  18. Thank you for the wonderful article and the video clips. Clay is indeed a very fine man with a huge heart and a spectacular voice. His Christmas tour is fantastic.

  19. Thank you Greg, that was a very nice article and I enjoyed the video clips. So many writers nowadays seem to think that unless they are dissing someone their article will not be interesting. You prove them wrong all the time.

  20. Thanks for the birthday shout out to Clay. That was nice. “Bridge Over Troubled Water” remains as my very favorite Idol performance ever. That says a lot given the wonderful singers Idol has showcased over the years.

  21. This guy has game.

  22. Thank you for the great article. Clay is so special, I am so proud to call myself a fan. Clay is the real deal. Happy Birthday Clay your like fine wine the older you get the better you are.

  23. and for this time of year, Clay’s rendition of “Mary, did you know?” on youtube is so beautiful!

  24. Thank you for this wonderful article. Hope he enjoys his birthday..he is so special. Yes, he certainly is a fine young man..and very handsome. Clay is a great advocate for many causes, and I respect him very much for that. His Joyful Noise Tour is just amazing. I was privileged to see the Clearwater, Florida show. Go to see one of these shows, if you can.

  25. Clay makes jokes about getting older, but in his case he’s gotten better with age. He was great to begin with, with a beautiful voice. Now he’s so much more. Happy Birthday, Clay.

Thank you for your article — both the bday wishes and praise, richly deserved (except this year’s Celeb App was very fun, until the finale, and even then I loved Clay’s singing w/the choir), and your choice of songs, too.
Clay’s BOTW is classic, the Timeless Tour (I was able to go to Reno!!) was both great to listen to and hilarious, and his “Home” is lovely. And I agree with David that Clay’s Christmas songs are beautiful, and this is time of year for them.

But of course, since he’s in the middle of another Joyful Noise Christmas tour right now, we should just go to one of his concerts, right? LOL He usually sings Mary Did You Know and he is simply awesome live!!

  28. Thank you for one of the best articles I’ve seen written on Clay. It is very obvious that “you get him”.

He said way back on Idol that he wanted to make a difference and he has for thousands and thousands of children and others. He has also made a difference in the lives of many of his fans as so many have disabilities which shut them off from the world. They now can stay at home and have hundreds upon hundreds of online friends. Clay has brought us all together. We are not just fans to him, we are “family”.

He is an exceptional young man who has improved so many of our lives. God bless you Greg and thank you again.

  29. Thanks for the article on one of the best singers to come along in 20 years. Clay Aiken is an exceptional human being and as a bonus has a great voice, and I should add very easy on the eyes.

  30. Ditto to carole Hart!

  31. Clay is so owesome. he is always the best to me !!! thanks for your nice article , Greg !

  32. Hey Greg —– thank you for your great editorial on Clay Aiken.
I hope you’ve been following his 2012 Joyful Noise Tour! It’s fabulous and I hope you’ll see the final performance in Anaheim. Then you can publish a really great editorial again for the world to see~
Happy Holidays from the Raleigh,NC Clay Aiken fans.

  33. Don’t know that last song but it was phenomenal!

  34. Thank you for your article. Clay Aiken is pure talent – heart, voice and personality. He really is a gift.

  35. Just finished your book and I loved it. I was tiinkhng with your vast experience you should write an article or webinar on how an artist can get his/her work branded. I’m off to create with all the inspiration I got from reading your book. My sketchbook was right next to me. Thank you for being you.
