Greg’s Photo Gallery from the rooftop NBC-Universal Party at the TV Critics Association Press Tour!

Jason Ritter and Laura Innes by you.

Jason Ritter by you.TELEVISION STARS: Maybe it was because it was a Friday night or because it was on a rooftop but the NBC-Universal party was my favorite such TV Critics Association Press Tour shindig so far .

Stars from NBC and USA series showed up in droves and dazzled us. While familiar faces like Jimmy Smits (Outlaw) and Laura Innes (The Event) were present, I was also excited about all of the relatively unknown talent on such shows like Ben Rappaport and Sacha Dhawan on Outsourced and Carter MacIntyre on Undercovers.

I chatted with each of these wonderful actors and the interviews will pop up closer to the premiere dates of their shows.

Starring opposite Miss Innes in The Event is the adorable Jason Ritter who, I think, was the most joyous person there. He literally could not stop smiling and was happy to do as many interviews as requested.

This is in line with how he has been at just about any premiere or press event I’ve seen him at. After his sitcom The Class had the plug pulled after just one season, Jason focused on indie flicks mostly. But The Event is the role of a lifetime for this gifted young actor and has the potential to be a 24 like hit with him front and center as our hero.

Stay tuned for a Jason interview in the coming weeks!

Christopher Gorham and Piper Perabo by you.

Christopher Gorham and Greg HernandezAs you could tell from my post from a few weeks back, Christopher Gorham is one of my favorite actors who I have enjoyed in just about every show he has ever starred in including Popular, Out of Practice and Ugly Betty.
He also happens to be a very nice guy who, like Jason Ritter, you root for to do well.
Christopher’s new USA series Covert Affairs premiered a few weeks back and is already a big hit. It’s a terrific show and he is a perfect fit opposite Piper Perabo.
She plays a young CIA trainee who is mysteriously sent out into the field as an operative and Chris plays Auggie Anderson, a CIA military intelligence/special ops officer who was blinded while on a mission in Iraq.
He guides Annie through the paces at her new job and the characters share a fun chemistry that really elevates the show.
The pair and the rest of the cast flew in from Vancouver for Press Tour and had a jam-packed day filled with interviews. They are in demand because the show, partnered with White Collar, is a huge hit for USA.
Chris told me his wife and three kids have been with him in Canada and that seven episodes have been shot so far. I’ll have my interview with Chris posted next week. It was not only great to see him, but I happened to share the elevator up to the rooftop party with he and Piper and she could not have been lovelier.

Nate Berkus by you.I was so excited to see Nate Berkus at the party!

The protege of Oprah Winfrey has a new syndicated talk show which premieres next month. Nate and I chatted about him going to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for an interview with Elizabeth Edwards and it should offer a real glimpse into her life now since it also includes a visit to her furniture business.

Nate, of course, is best known as a home design guru but he has become so much more thanks to his ability to connect with people and with the audience.

We chatted about the significance of him being the first openly gay man to host a nationally syndicated daytime show and he had some perceptive things to say about it that I will be sharing when I post the interview in the coming weeks.

Laura Innes by you. Most of the other stars pictured here you probably already know but I’ll let you know who they are, in order, just in case: Laura Innes (The Event), Cole Hauser (Chase), Jesse Metcalf (Chase), Jimmy Smits (Outlaw), Ben Rappaport (Outsourced), Boris Kodjoe (Undercovers), Carter MacIntyre (Undercovers), Sacha Dhawan (Outsourced), Michael Trucco (Facing Kate) and Jesse Bradford (Outlaw).

I snapped these pics myself before heading into the party and have to do so by trying to stay out of the way from the real photographers who have assigned spaces on the red carpet!

It’s a fun game (and a challenge) but I think it’s fun to share whatever I manage to get and hope you do too!

4 Remarks

  1. Chapel Hill is in North Carolina not South Carolina.

  2. Thank you David! I have corrected it and enrolled in a Geography class!

  3. Jason Ritter has looked nothing but overjoyed at each stop on “The Event” publicity tour. It’s nice to see someone who appreciates what’s been earned.

  4. [...] Hernandez, aka greginhollywood, noticed how Jason Ritter was “the most joyous person there [at the TCA NBC party]. He literally could not stop smiling [...]
