Greg In Hollywood catches up with busy “All My Children” star Cameron Mathison
It’s always a pleasure to chat with Cameron Mathison because he just radiates such a positive energy. Of course he’s also pretty easy on the eyes!
I caught up the All My Children stud (he plays Ryan Lavery) and asked about the ABC soaps recent relocation from NYC to LA and wondered what that meant for his other gig as a regular contributor to Good Morning America.
“It was tricky because it’s a major, major part of my professional life now,” he said of GMA. “We’ve worked out a situation where I’m still working for them – out here. So I’m shooting a lot segments for them here and [last] Thursday night I took the red-eye to wrap something live Friday, come back and interview Mel Gibson on Friday then I’m going to do the Golden Globes on Sunday. I’m really thrilled that, for the moment, I’m still working a lot with them. I just love it. It’s a really exciting part of my career.”
Cameron moved his wife and kids out to California but they also kept their place in New York: “It’s only been a little while but most importantly, my kids love it, my wife loves it. I’m still adjusting to it. We’re renting a really great house and it’s working out perfectly for the family. The kids are running around outside and going swimming.”
On-screen, Cameron’s character is involved in a romance with All My Children’s most well-known character Erica Kane played by soap legend Susan Lucci.
“I had wished in my mind for it, I really had,” he said of the storyline. “I always thought they’d make a great pair, they’re both kind of feisty. I love it, I really thinks it makes sense. I know there’s mised reports on it but I really like it.”
