Great news! Casey Cott has been made a series regular as Kevin Keller on The CW’s ‘Riverdale’

Fans of The CW’s Riverdale will be seeing a lot more of the show’s gay character Kevin Keller when the show returns for its second season.

Casey Cott, the actor who plays the funny and snarky Kevin, has been promoted to series regular, according to TVLine.

It became clear in the series premiere earlier this year that Kevin was a character who would speak his mind.

The first words we hear from Kevin were these: ‘Oh. My. God. Archie got hot!’

He later surmised: ‘Archie’s swell. But like most millennial straight guys, he has to be told what he wants.’

Keller is the son of Riverdale’s town sheriff and is the first openly gay character in the history of the Archie Comics franchise.

The franchise takes place in the fictional town of Riverdale and includes such characters as Reggie, Veronica, Jughead, Betty and, of course, Archie.

The TV series takes a subversive look at the familiar characters and the darker side of what is going on beneath the wholesome Riverdale image.

This season, Kevin had a romance this with Joaquin, a member of the Southside Serpents biker gang.

One Remark

  1. Another lgbt character on Riverdale is Moose Mason. Straight in the comics, this TV version of Moose has him being a closet bisexual who very much was interested in Kevin. Other opportunities for lgbt characters that could come from the comics… Kevin’s boyfriend Clay Walker… and in the horror themed Afterlife With Archie series… Ginger Lopez and Nancy Woods are a lesbian couple. Ginger is on Riverdale (one of Cheryl Blossom’s clique)… but Nancy who has dated Chuck Clayton and Ginger Lopez in the comics has not shown up yet on Riverdale.
