Gordon Thomson, who played Adam Carrington on “Dynasty,” comes out publicly as gay

About eight years ago, I met Gordon Thompson at an event and told him if he ever wanted to come out publicly, I’d gladly tell his story on Greg In Hollywood.

Gordon played Adam Carrington in Dynasty in the 80s and I had a huge crush. Thought he was/is so handsome.

Well, he’s finally done it but it is The Daily Beast that got the scoop.

I’m thrilled for him anyway.

Thomson tells The Daily Beast:

“It’s not something I’ve ever announced. I’m assuming that people know, and now that I’m my age that’s fine. I don’t go out of my way because it’s my generation, I think. I’m probably as homophobic as any gay man alive because of my background.”

“When I was growing up it [homosexuality] was a crime, and then classified as a mental illness. It was not until Pierre Trudeau was prime minister of Canada when I was 23, 24 years old, did it cease being a crime, and it was not until I was nearly 30 that it stopped being classified as a mental illness in the U.S. So you’re dealing with that. And the shame, the breathtaking lack of self-esteem, has only just begun to seep out of my soul.”

3 Remarks

  1. At last.

  2. What a sad interview. He seems, despite his notions to the contrary, that he’s unhappy and laments a life of what could have been without so many compromises. That much internal homophobia is surely not healthy.

I want to wish Gordon Thomson the very best in his life for being out. I have seen how he looks now, Best Looking Silver Fox to come out. I love him on Dynasty.
