Glenn Close will reprise Broadway role of Norma Desmond in movie version of musical “Sunset Boulevard”

Glenn Close handled her seventh Oscar loss with such grace on Sunday.

But could the chance for an eighth nomination be right around the corner?

News came earlier today that Miss Close will get to, at last, recreate her Tony Award-winning stage role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard in a feature film version of the musical.

Tony-winning choreographer Rob Ashford is attached to direct Paramount’s big-screen take of Broadway’s musical adaptation of the screen classic Sunset Boulevard.

Close first portrayed Desmond in 1993 a Los Angeles production the musical which served as its US premiere. She then opened in it on Broadway in 1994, winning her third Tony Award. She reprised the part to great acclaim in a 2016 revival that played both London and New York.

Filming is expected to start this fall.
