Glenn Close to reprise Tony winning role as Norma Desmond in “Sunset Boulevard” in London
She’s getting ready for her close-up – again.
Glenn Close is reprising her Tony Award-winning role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard for a one-month run next year at the London Coliseum.
The show, to be be directed by Lonny Price, will run from April 1, 2016 through May 7, 2016.
It was two decades ago that Miss Close won the Tony Award for the show. She was the star of the Los Angeles production – I saw her in that – and was given the Broadway role over Patti LuPone who had originated the role in London.
LuPone had been contractually promised the role on Broadway and filed suit against the producers. Betty Buckley replaced LuPone in London and later Close on Broadway.
