“Glee” Recap: Blaine’s drunken kiss with Rachel at party confuses him and devastates Kurt

GLEECAP: On last night’s episode of Glee, Blaine (Darren Criss) wondered if he was possibly bisexual after he kissed Rachel (Lea Michele) while playing a drunken game of spin the bottle at a party.

Prior to the airing, there had been some dismay at the possibility that Blaine might be going the bisexual route but it ended up being handled well and, thankfully, wrapped up in a single episode!

When Kurt (Kurt Colfer) brought Blaine along to Rachel’s party where the booze flowed and all kinds of different drunks emerged (the angry drunk, the fun drunk, the needy drunk, the stripper drunk etc).

Apparently Blaine turned into a bisexual drunk when his kiss with Rachel during a game of spin the bottle turned unexpectedly pleasurable. Then the two perform a duet and appear, much to Kurt’s horror, to have some real chemistry. The next day Rachel called Blaine and asks him out on a date and he accepts.

He tells a disapproving Kurt: “When we kissed, it felt good. What’s the harm in going out on one crummy little date? … I’m searching. I’m honestly trying to figure out who I am.”

Kurt’s anger is perfectly understandable. He has romantic feelings for Blaine and what’s more, Blaine has been something of a gay role model for him.

My favorite scene was when Kurt dropped in on Rachel to help her clean up after the party but really, he’s come over to find out how the date went with Blaine and he gets in some really bitchy zingers.

Rachel bubbles with the news that they went to see Love Story and that they have so much in common. Retorts Kurt: “A sentiment expressed by many a hag about many a gay. … There’s something you and Blaine will never have and that’s chemistry.”

Ouch!

But Rachel is undaunted and the next day at the coffee house, she plants a kiss on Blaine’s mouth. It’s a epiphany for him: “Yup, I’m gay. 100 percent gay. Thank you so much for clearing that up for me Rachel.”

Okay, that was the sweet part of the story. The rest of the episode had a message about teen drinking which was fine but Sue Sylvester playing a drunken message Will leaves on her phone by mistake over the pubic address system at school was so over-the-top. She is also seen shoving a rival glee club teacher down some stairs so she can get his job. He has a brain injury as a result. First the cannon, now this? Sue is turning into a bad cartoon and it is not funny.

2 Remarks

  1. Awesome idea, making the title of the post a spoiler.

  2. I’m glad I’m not the only one who had had it with Sue’s psychotic behavior. It’s almost as frustrating as the apparent indifference from EVERYONE IN THE SHOW about her homicidal tendencies. I realize any TV show calls for a certain amount of suspension of disbelief, and for most of Sue’s earlier antics, that was fine. But this is just too much.

Tone her down or get her off the show in my opinion. She’s tainting a good thing now. Last night’s episode, for instance, would have been perfect if not for Sue’s idiocy.
