German star Alexander Zverev stuns world number 1 Novak Djokovic to win ATP Finals title

My heart still belongs to Roger Federer but I am quite happy to see rising star Alexander Zverev take a huge step forward in his career by winning the ATP Finals title earlier today.

The year-end championship is one of the biggest titles in tennis outside the four grand slams. Zverev, 21, beat six-time champion Federer, 37, in the semifinals then world number one Novak Djokovic in the final. He won both matches in straight sets.

“What a fantastic way to finish an incredible year!!!” Zverev wrote on Instagram.

Below is a video with highlights from the final. Enjoy!

BONUS VIDEO: Match point from past ATP Finals starting with 1990 when Andre Agassi beat Stefan Edberg through last year’s improbable victory by Grigor Dmitrov. In between there were a record six titles won by Federer, five by Djokovic and Pete Sampras and multiple titles for Boris Becker and Lleyton Hewitt. Although Rafael Nadal has twice made the finals, this is the one big title missing from his trophy collection.
