Friday Morning Man: Lukas Rosol!

I had never heard of Lukas Rosol until yesterday when he scored one of the biggest upsets in Wimbledon history.

This 26-year-old from the Czech Republic played brilliantly to beat two-time champion Rafael Nadal in five sets.

He’s ranked 100th in the world and it’s an even bigger shocker because this was his first Wimbledon appearance after five previous attempts to qualify.

“Like a miracle for me,” he told the BBC only moments after leaving the court. “So many emotions, I don’t know what to say.”

Some 45 minutes later, in the interview room, Rosol still seemed a bit dazed. “I’m sorry for Rafa, but today I was somewhere else,” he said. “It’s like a dream for me.”

Told that he showed no fear, he answered, “I closed it inside. I don’t want to show him what is inside me, you know.”

Ranked at 100th beating Raf! ahhh Wimbledon surprises!!

  2. 6’5, 178lbs and Czech-practically screaming to do well on grass.

  3. Hey…he’s far better looking than Rafael Nadal. Tennis matches should be decided on who’s better looking, not talent.
