Friday Morning Man: Juan Monaco!
It’s almost the usual suspects in the semifinals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami this weekend: Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.
But instead of Roger Federer, a sexy Argentinian named Juan Monaco has claimed the final spot in the final four.
Federer was beaten early by Andy Roddick who was then destroyed by Monaco in the next round. He then followed that up with a victory over the top American in the field, Mardy Fish – a triumph that occurred on Monaco’s 28th birthday Thursday.
The player whose nickname is “Pico” is currently ranked number 21 in the world. His highest ranking was 14th in 2008.
He’s won four titles in his career – all on clay – and has made it to the fourth round of the French Open once and the fourth round of the US Open twice. He has never managed to win a single match at Wimbledon.
But win or lose. Juan sure looks good doing it!
