Friday Morning Man: Charlie Hunnam!
Charlie Hunnam had been so identified now with playing scruffy biker Jax Teller on FX’s Sons of Anarchy that it’s hard to believe this is the same actor who we fell in love with as fresh-faced Nathan Maloney on the original UK version of Queer as Folk.
Charlie, who turns 40 today, moved to LA after the success of Queer as Folk and and was cast in the WB Television Network series Young Americans which also starred Ian Somerhalder.
After his splash on Queer As Folk, Charlie appeared in the short-lived Fox series Undeclared as an English drama student called Lloyd Haythe. It lasted one season but remains a cult fave. He soon landed the lead in the feature film Nicholas Nickleby then headed back to the UK to star in Green Street Hooligans.
He’s was in Anarchy 2008-2014 and has gone on to star in the feature films The Gentleman, Papillon, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Lost City of Z , Crimson Peak, A Million Little Pieces, Triple Frontier, 3,2,1… Frankie Go Boom, Deadfall, Pacific Rim and an intense 2011 drama that I saw called The Ledge.
