Find out why the extremely gay friendly Nick Jonas doesn’t consider himself to be a gay icon
Savvy Nick Jonas has openly courted gay fans in recent years by making live – and sometimes shirtless – appearances at gay clubs and taking on gay roles on television.
As a result, the actor-singer is considered to be a gay icon by some.
‘It’s an honor, but I don’t think of myself as an icon,’ he tells L’Uomo Vogue. ‘There should be a lot more straight artists who don’t have a problem with having gay fans.’
Jonas plays very different types of gay characters on the fight drama Kingdom and the horror comedy Scream Queens.
‘I’m really proud to play gay characters and I’ll continue to do so,’ he says. ‘I think it’s among the challenges of maturing as an actor.’
Jonas knows how to keep his fans – both gay and straight – buzzing.
Last month he was asked at the Radio One Teen Awards if he has ever experimented sexually with another man.
Jonas replied: ‘I can’t say if I have or haven’t, but if you watch (Kingdom) you’ll see more of that.’
