Federer! In full flight!

Most years – for the past 20 in fact – I make it out for at least a few days to the big pro tennis tournament in Indian Wells to watch the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal practice and play their matches real up close. I have so many lovely memories of this.

But this year, the schedule just is not cooperating and there has been too much else to do!

But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been following the results of a resurgent Roger Federer who, after a disastrous 2013 season, is healthy again and back in form.

The Swiss superstar, who climbs back into the top 5 next week after dropping down to 8th, tweeted this pic from his quarterfinal match from earlier tonight (he won).

He wrote: ‘In full flight, hope I can keep it up, anyone coming to my doubles tomorrow with @stanwawrinka ?’

I can predict with full confidence a full stadium. Federer is popular everywhere but at Indian Wells, there’s no bigger star. His practice sessions draw more than many actual matches and fans will be there to see him in any singles or doubles match.

He’s not only the greatest male player there ever was, he’s the greatest male star of all time.

Go Roger!

6 Remarks

  1. Happy to report RF has beat Kevin Anderson yesterday in the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open, moving onto play Alexandr Dolgopolov in the semifinals.

  2. As a long time Federer fan it’s been fabulous to see him playing so well again. The bigger racquet and Edberg’s coaching continues to pay off. A major isn’t out of the question. Now I believe he plays Dolgopolov in the semi’s of Indian Wells. That should be a cracker of a match and while I’m happy to see Dolgopolov play such inspired tennis, specially as his homeland of Ukraine is going through such a troubled time, I’m pulling for Federer.

  3. Update Update from BNP Indian Wells — RF will look to capture his fifth singles title at Indian Wells after beating Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3, 6-1 in the men’s semi-finals.

  4. BNP Parabis and RF – finals today/Sunday

  5. Tennis great in action – regret ND on top but here’s from IW BNP Paribas
