Facebook photo of US Marine Brandon Morgan and boyfriend touches hearts in post DADT world
In less than 48 hours, more than 18,000 people found and clicked ‘Like’ on a photo of US Marine Brandon Morgan arriving home from a tour of duty and leaping into the arms of his strapping boyfriend, Dalan Wells.
The photo is featured on a Facebook page titled Gay Marines and is quickly becoming a symbol of the post-Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell era in the US military.
‘To everyone who has responded in a positive way, my partner and I want to say thank you,’ Morgan wrote on the page Sunday. ‘We didn’t do this to get famous, or something like that. We did this [because] after 3 deployments and four years knowing each other, we finally told each other how we felt.’
Read the rest of my story over at Gay Star News including some of the beautiful – and not so beautiful – Facebook comments the photo has gotten.

The Facebook comments on this are absolutely hate filled, showing how horrendous some people can be.

One more thought. I had a wonderful partner for seventeen years. It was a difficult relationship though. My partner never really was able to deal with the fact that he couldn’t be as affectionate with me in public as he wanted to be. This was a man who regularly was informed whenever we went to a gay place that it was “gay”. They assumed he was straight. I’d have loved to be able to do what that marine got to do.
