Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Colfer, “New New Normal” among People’s Choice Awards winners

I was all set to watch the People’s Choice Awards tonight – then I fell asleep.

OMG.

So I didn’t see a single minute of it but I’m mighty glad to see some LGBT winners.

First of all, Glee star Chris Colfer was voted favorite comedic TV actor for the second year in a row and said during his speech: “It is so flattering to be exploited in your fan fiction.”

Then there is the ever-popular Ellen DeGeneres.

She took home her 13th People’s Choice Award, this one for favorite daytime TV host.

“It’s 2013, this is my 13th People’s Choice Award,” she said as she accepted the honor. “It is exactly as the Mayans predicted. So far, they got one right.”

The NBC comedy The New Normal, about a gay couple having a baby via surrogate and the extended family that has resulted, won the award for Favorite New Comedy.
