Deleted Instagram pic of Caitlyn Jenner, Gus Kenworthy & Matt Wilkas at b-day party for son of Sultan of Brunei

Spotted this on Instagram and posted it and within minutes it was no longer available. I had to go to a dinner and figured I’d do a post later about how it disappeared. But my pal Kenneth in the 212 not only beat me to it but also posted the deleted pic with his take on the situation. The whole thing is odd.

Gus Kenworthy posted a photo from the queeny son of the Sultan of Brunei's birthday party in London but quickly deleted it when he realized celebrating a member of a family that is looking to make being gay punishable by death isn't something an Instagram filter can make look pretty. (I saved it for you.) Enabling this "wealth can shield me from what my government is doing to my LGBT comrades" mentality is par for the course for Caitlyn Jenner, but I'd hoped for more from Gus and his actor boyfriend.

3 Remarks

  1. Yeah, I was stumped a bit when I saw his post. I respect Gus for his accomplishments and the way he handled the dog situation from the past Olympics, so I’m surprised that he would attend a party of the Sultan of Brunei’s son, and also appear in a photo with Jenner. It’s possible Gus isn’t very political and just isn’t in the know. I’m sure he is now. Surprised he hasn’t made mention of it on any of his Social accounts.

  2. Stupid move, Gus. Shameful, actually.

  3. I think Gus took responsibility for his actions, and hopefully won’t make the same mistake twice. He could donate the money he made to a charity that would help those effected negatively by the Sultan.
