Daytime Soap Clips: Dr. Reid Oliver does not want to choose between love and his job so he quits!

Well, here are the Luke-Reid-Noah scenes from today’s episode of As the World Turns.

I wish I could say I enjoyed watching them but the truth is, the show is getting on my nerves again. The Luke-Reid romance, off to such a red-hot start, has had water doused on it. Not sure of things will heat up again in any kind of satisfactory way or if I care.

Hospital Chief of Staff Bob Hughes has given Reid a choice between his job as head of the new wing or his relationship with Luke, a major donor to the wing.

Reid chooses his job, Luke is pissed and his mom Lily says: “He’s not very smart for being a brain surgeon.”

As Reid, actor Eric Sheffer Stevens makes the most out of the ridiculous material as he conveys that Reid, for all his brilliance as a surgeon, does not really know how to be a human being. He tells his roommate that choosing his job over Luke was “a no brainer” but then wonders: “Why do I feel like I’m crawling out of my skin?”

Reid decides, after like a 30-second conversation with the roomie, that he made the wrong choice and goes in and tells Bob: ‘I quit.” He goes over to tell Luke who, of course, is talking with Noah so Reid gets the wrong idea and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

2 Remarks

  1. Best line of the day was when Katie said “Well welcome to the human race, Reid, we’ve been waiting for you.”

  2. @mo
Yep, I loved this line as well.

Anyway previews for tomorrow show Noah telling Luke to go after Reid, so there is still some hope for LuRe but the tempo is really agonizing.

I actually kind of liked the episode for several reason( not for great writing though) but it’s really peculiar how this big gay relationship that Luke&Reid had supposedly had pre-break-up and that everyone seems to know about, had so little real time on screen. Bleeding nose +kissing it better= start of the relationship, ultimatum+Bob’s meddling+Luke’s tantrum+ Reid’s boneheadedness= end of the relationship, which we viewers have hardly seen in the actual relationship-like phase. And then we get almost 15 minutes of different people talking in lenght and depth about’ the relationship’ Clearly these are the best propotions ever -_-”.
