Days of Our Lives: Sonny’s dad visits Paul in San Francisco; Will gets everything wrong

Oh, poor Will.

He’s a disaster – he’s Sami.

He sent grandma Marlena to Italy thinking Paul and John were there and thinks Sonny is making plans to join them there too.

But good thing Marlena went there as you will see.

Meanwhile, Sonny and Will have a heart-to-heart and Sonny says: “Let me breathe.”

Freddie Smith is so good in this scene – a worthy Emmy winning actor.

Meanwhile, both John and Sonny’s dad Justin are in San Francisco visiting Paul, getting to know him. The chat between Paul and Justin is especially moving.

One Remark

  1. With ongoing gay romantic story lines on both Days (WilSon — Will and Sonny along with Paul and ?) and GH (BRUCAS — with Brad and Lucas)and B&B with a freshly minted transgender story line in reality how long can Y&R remain the “odd soap out? Given that gay story lines are hardly new on soaps, it is understandable that the showrunners would want some sort of plot twist for any new same-sex story line. Days did it with having two the romantic duo being legacy characters — Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis. GH handled it with making their pairing being not only professions (Lucas is a doctor and Brad is head fo the hospital’s lab) but interracial (Lucas is white while Brad is Asian-American) and both are the biological sons of local mob bosses. So, Greg Rikaart has handed TPTB at Y&R a great plot twist — Making the supposed totally straight Kevin Fisher to turn out to be a “late bloomer” as he finally comes to terms with his true sexual orientation. As for a partner, since Kevin works as the Genoa City Police’s cyber guru what about the forces first openly gay officer? At this point, Y&R needs to understand what the brass on the other soaps already has — The LGBT Community makes up a significant part of the soap opera fan-base and expect to see characters and story lines that mirror them in the same way African-Americans, Latinos, Asian-Americans etc. do.
