Days of Our Lives: Sonny leaves Salem for Europe and leaves behind a heartbroken Will – and Paul

Freddie Smith gets quite a goodbye episode as Sonny Kiriakis with the door wide open for his return – or at least a return of the character.

He leaves Salem behind breaking Will’s heart and Paul’s too.

Uncle Victor has arranged for Sonny to work in Europe and he tells Paul during their emotional goodbye: ‘I just need time to think and I need a safe place to do it. … It’s not for good, this place is too special to me. … You’ll be seeing me again, I promise.’

He tells a shocked Will that he needs space and that he will let him know what he decides soon. He does not assure Will that he will return to him and Ari.

Before Sonny arrives home to break the news to Will, Will runs into Paul in the park and apologizes for hi latest misdeed involving Derrick.

Paul has the best line of the day: ‘Will, do you know how many things that you’ve apologized for over the past six months? I’m sorry doesn’t cut it.’

3 Remarks

  1. DOOL has such problems as it is. I thought it a glaring inconsistency that Sonny leaves with an overnight bag for a trip that will stretch several months. Freddie, of course, was incomparable.

  2. I really don’t know if my husband and I will continue to watch. First Freddie Smith as Sonny leaving, and then the return of the nosy, self-righteous bitch Julie JUDGEING everyone else’s lives and loves is absolutely nauseating and boring. Today’s episode with Hope was horrible on Julie’s part and then she interferes in Marlena and John’s love life. She may be the oldest character on the show to date, but PLEASE new writers, do not make her continue on this horrible path of judging everyone’s love life.

  3. Someone at The Backlot said that he was going to Paris and there was no way in hell they’d let him bring those hideous plaid shirts into their country. He would need to buy a whole new wardrobe when he got there. LOL
