Days of Our Lives: Freddie Smith and Guy Wilson talk about getting physical – and engaged
If there are any SPOILER ALERT people out there then quit reading now and go into your room, pull the shades down and unplug your iPad.
Because tomorrow, on Valentine’s Day, William Horton is going to accept Sonny Kiriakis’ marriage proposal.
Actors Guy Wilson (I’ll stop calling him New Will soon!) and Freddie Smith chatted with The Advocate about the engagement and about getting physical.
“I’ve been waiting for this since the day I signed on,” says Freddie. “Of course, Will said no when Sonny popped the question last month because it’s a soap and it has to be dramatic. But when I found out they were finally getting engaged, I was thrilled. Will and Sonny have been a power couple for two years now, and in the town of Salem, people don’t usually stay together that long, so they’re doing something right. It’s definitely time.”
Since Wilson began appearing as Will last month, the characters have been even more physically affectionate it seems.
“I’m happy that we’re able to show intimacy,” Freddie says. “That was one of the things we set out to do when we began this story, to show passion and intimacy and make it as authentic as possible — and I think we are. We’re rolling around in the sheets a lot lately. For me, being able to show the full spectrum of Will and Sonny’s relationship has been so rewarding.”
BONUS: Guy also talked about some of the anti-gay negativity he has seen on social media since joining the show. To read about that, see my story over at Gay Star News.
