Darryl Dragon of The Captain and Tennille has died

A little more than 10 years ago, I got to interview the Captain and Tennille (Darryl Dragon and Toni Tennille) about a new Christmas song they had released. I grew up on their hits including the smash Love Will Keep Us Together.

It’s so sad to learn that Darryl Dragon died today at the age of 76.

He was not only one-half of one of the most successful pop duos of the 1970s, But he also played keyboard for The Beach Boys for several years in the 1960s and early 70s.

Although he and Tennille divorced in 2015 after nearly 40 years of marriage, she was at his side when he died of renal failure.

The duo had their own ABC television variety series in 1977 and their other hits included Muskrat Love, Do That To Me One More Time, The Way That I Want To Touch You, Lonely Nights, Shop Around, Can’t Stop Dancin’, and Come in From the Rain.
