“Dancing With the Stars” line-up includes lovely Florence Henderson, brilliant Margaret Cho, a studly “Situation” and Bristol Palin? cast of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars is always a mixed bag with some dubious choices.

This year’s dubious choice has got to be Bristol Palin. The girl is pretty and she seems to be doing the best she can as a single mother whose mom is that wacko Sarah Palin. But what makes her a “star”?

In contrast, producers had the good sense to choose a real star in Florence Henderson. I’m a huge fan of this woman who may be best known to the world as Mrs. Brady from The Brady Bunch but who, in fact, has a showbiz career dating back to the 50s as the star of several Broadway shows.

Florence, now 76, is a total professional and has never stopped working whether hosting her own talk shows, doing TV guest spots or performing her sensational one-woman stage show (I’ve seen in twice in recent years.) She is going to show Bristol and some of these other “stars” like Audrina Patridge and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino what the hard work ethic is all about.

In addition to Miss Henderson, I’m very excited – and shocked frankly – about Margaret Cho being a part of all of this. The brilliant stand-up star last appeared on ABC more than a decade ago in her own sitcom All-American Girl and now is one of the stars of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva. I’m not sure how her dancing skills are, but you can bet Margaret will be the coolest and funniest competitor out there.

The rest of the cast includes the increasingly desperate David Hasselhoff, crooner Michael Bolton, Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey, retired LA Lakers star Rick Fox, some dude named Kyle Massey from a Disney Channel show, retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner, and singer Brandy.

All I have to say is this: Situation, show us your abs!!!

Mike Sorrentino Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino shows of his trademark abs during the NoX Edge supplement launch at GNC on July 1, 2010 in New York City.

One Remark

  1. Wow, I’ve never seen and episode of this show and will skip it still, but, good to see Florence Henderson still in the mix, I met her once at a charity dinner she performed in and watching her rehearse was amazing as she was dancing and singing as loud as she could and she was in her late 60′s then, so, maybe she’ll win!

And, why is “the situation” wearing beads???
