Dan Amboyer shares his Pride story: “Out to all at just 13. No kids like me. Difficult to imagine a future”

View this post on Instagram

this was my childhood bedroom. for a while, I didn’t think I would make it out of middle school, or high school alive. alone, isolated, out to all at just 13. no kids like me. difficult to imagine a future. where happiness was possible. I couldn’t see it for a long time. dark nights. now, my husband and newborn baby have been staying here for the past two months— in this same bedroom. between these same four walls where I once felt so hopeless. my husband and son. my family. my childhood self could have never imagined the happiness and fulfillment that would be in store for me. even in this same room. if I just kept the faith and kept on. today, I am so thankful for all the brave pioneers who protested, fought, and risked all to make our country and world more welcoming to all lgbtq people. I am proud of their achievements, that allows us to have pride in who we are. and that’s why I feel it’s so important to be “visible” and share my world today—maybe someone out there needs to see. it’s possible. and it gets better. sending love to all today on pride Sunday. #pride #twodads
