Cynthia Nixon is game for a new SATC movie

Cynthia Nixon would love to step back into the shoes of attorney and mom Miranda Hobbs in another Sex and the City movie.

‘I would love to do it,’ the actress told E! Online over the weekend at the Independent Spirit Awards.

Nixon says she is asked by fans all the time when there is going to be another film featuring Miranda, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis).

The first feature film featuring the adventures of four best friends in New York City came in 2008 and was a box office sensation. the 2012 sequel, while still quite profitable, was not as successful as the first movie and put a question mrk on whether there would ever be a third big screen installment.

The original TV series ran on HBO from 1998 through 2004.

Nixon says she’s on board for another movie if series creator “Michael Patrick King thought there was a story there that he wanted to write and tell.’

But don’t ask Nixon to come up with a future for her character and that of the other ladies.

‘I do not have a story in mind,’ she says. ‘Luckily that’s not my department.’

Nixon was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award this year for her performance as a woman dying of cancer in the film James White.

She didn’t win but her trophy shelf is already quite impressive with a Tony Award for the play Rabbit Hole, Emmys for Sex and the City and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and a Grammy Award for for best spoken word album for reading for An Inconvenient Truth.

2 Remarks

  1. Just please please don’t repeat the fiasco of the second movie. It was painful.

  2. The SATC movie was released in 2008. Only reason I remember is because my mom and I waited with anticipation and saw it together at the theater, one of our favorite times together. She passed away in 2009.
