Creative Arts Emmys to be held tonight! Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Lynch, Kathy Griffin Betty White are among the nominees

http://cdn.wg.uproxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/betty-white-snl.jpgWill Betty White be rewarded with an Emmy for her memorable stint as Saturday Night Live guest host?

We’ll find out later today when the Creative Arts Emmys are presented at the Nokia Theatre. It is at this very long ceremony where most of the prime-time Emmys are handed out but for the most part aren’t the big glamor categories.

It’s where such categories as cinematography, casting, choreography, costumes, lighting, editing, hairstyling, make-up, prosthetic make-up, title theme music etc. are presented.

They include Miss White, Neil Patrick Harris (Glee), Jane Lynch (How I Met Your Mother), Jon Hamm (30 Rock), Kristin Chenoweth (Glee), John Lithgow (Dexter), Tina Fey (Saturday Night Live), Lily Tomlin (Damages), Ann-Margaret (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Sissy Spacek (Big Love), and Ted Danson (Damages).

The reality show host category has been bumped from the main telecast to the Creative Arts Emmys. Those nominees are last year’s winner Jeff Probst (Survivor), Ryan Seacrest (American Idol), Phil Keoghan (Amazing Race), Tom Bergeron (Dancing With the Stars) and Heidi Klum (Project Runway).

LGBT nominees tonight include Harris, Lynch, Tomlin and Alan Cumming who’s nominated for The Good Wife. I will also be watching with interest to see if  Mike O’Malley wins for best actor in a comedy series. He’s nominated for his moving performance as Burt Hummel, father of gay high school student Kurt Hummel, on Glee.

LGBT fave Kathy Griffin will be trying to win her third Emmy in the Outstanding Reality Show category with Kathy Griffin: My Life On the D-List nominated for the fifth straight year. Kathy’s competition is Antiques Roadshow, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, Dirty Jobs, Myth Busters and Undercover Boss.

An edited version of the ceremony will be aired on E! on Friday night.

2 Remarks

  1. Jon Hamm should have been nominated for SNL performance. It was way better than the Betty White episode.

  2. Are they on tv or online?
