Conservative group Parents Television Council gives Kathy Griffin a late Christmas present
After the ball dropped in Times Square on New Year’s Eve in New York City, CNN’s guest broadcaster Kathy Griffin got her knees and attempted to kiss Anderson Cooper’s crotch.
He giggled and tried to stop her and get her back on her feet but Griffin, never one to back away from a challenge persisted.
One group that isn’t laughing about Griffin’s antics is the Parents Television Council which said Wednesday that Griffin ‘has shown increasing contempt for the audience.’
The conservative advocacy group, which says its focus is ‘bringing back responsibility and family values to the entertainment industry’ wants CNN to condemn Griffin’s behavior.
‘The onus is now on CNN,’ says PTC President Tom Winter. ‘Either the network has a policy that allows its on-air talent to fondle a co-anchor’s genitals, or it has a policy that forbids such conduct.’
CNN has not commented.
Griffin, a two-time Emmy winner and LGBT activist, will likely be overjoyed to have caused controversy once again during her sixth year co-hosting with Cooper.
On previous broadcasts, she attempted to take her clothes off and got down to her bra, she uttered an -f-bomb, and also once screamed down to a heckler that she wasn’t trying to ‘knock dicks out of your mouth’ so he should not interrupt her while she’s working.
When Griffin won her first Emmy in 2007, she caused widespread controversy among conservative groups when she said in her speech: ‘Now, a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. He didn’t help me a bit. … So all I can say is suck it, Jesus, this award is my God now!’
