Comeback kid Billy Gilman makes finals on ‘The Voice’ and tells fans to ‘never give up’

Billy Gilman’s knockout performance of Celine Dion’s I Surrender has landed him in the finals of NBC’s The Voice.

‘Yes!’ Billy said ecstatically in a video he posted on Twitter late last night.

‘You – all of you – are the reason!’ he told fans.

‘Thank you so much. Thank you. Top four baby. We made it and I hope I can continue this journey next week – we got one more week left. I’m going to be working my tail off this week for y’all.’

Gilman, 28, has managed to deliver standout performances week after week on the singing competition which has given him a second shot at stardom.

A child country music star who sold more than five million records, Gilman’s career was basically dead by his late teens.

But two years ago he embarked on a comeback as an openly gay man.

‘Never give up,’ he said on his latest video. ‘It leads you to amazing places like The Voice.’

The Voice finale live performances air Monday and the results will be revealed on Tuesday on NBC.
