WTF? Clay Aiken slams Adam Lambert!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,clay30.jpgClay Aiken, the season two American Idol runner-up who finally came out of the closet last year, can be such a miserable bitch sometimes.

Sorry Claymates, but you know it’s true.

Clay decided to post about this week’s American Idol; results (Kris Allen winning, Adam Lambert not) on his website. Since you have to pay to read it (around $30 a year), I got the following off of Gawker:

Now that it’s all over, and for the record…. I couldn’t be happier about the way AI ended this year. I only turn the show on once a season, and only to see what the set looks like each year. This year, I happened to turn it during the minute that Adam Lambert was singing “Ring of Fire” and, at that moment, thought my ears would bleed. Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening! I wasn’t really a fan and found myself surprised whenever folks told me that they liked him. Granted, I never saw another performance (and many folks who I trust said that he was great) but I can’t imagine I would have enjoyed it. Just not my cup of tea at all. To each his own. I never saw Kris sing on the show, but whether he was good or not is really relative. It’s usually a matter of taste, right? But Idol is not always a matter of musical taste only. It’s about the person you like. From what little I saw, Kris seemed likable. (That’s not to say that Adam isn’t just as likable as anyone.. maybe more so… I don’t know)

I think many voters got sick of being “told who to vote for”. I think many were turned off by the blatant favoritism shown towards one contestant. Therefore, on that last night, they used their votes against a contestant that they were tired of hearing about and for the contestant who had been written off. And, at the same time, I think they voted AGAINST an American Idol that has, for four years now, been more about the slick productions and polished contestants than it has been about finding the raw talent that it did in its first three seasons.

Those votes for Kris were also votes to return the show to its roots of finding “real” contestants with undiscovered talent and giving them the chance to grow and shine. They were votes that said “we’re tired of seeing contestants who already seem to know it all”.

Of course Clay is entitled to his opinion but for someone who only watched one show, he seems to be talking out of his ass a little bit quite frankly.

4 Remarks

  1. I was a huge fan of Clay back in season 2. These bitter comments seem like the sort that anti-Lambert internet trolls would make rather than a respected Idol alumnus. I don’t know if I’ll ever have the same level of respect for Clay again. Consider me very, very disappointed.

  2. I agree that Clay sounds very bitchy in his comments about Adam. Having said that, I do have to agree with the comment about how the show (i.e. the producers and judges) favors certain contestants. Paula Abdul was on Jimmy Kimmel last week and talked about how at the beginning of the season she mails herself a letter with her picks for the final two. This year she picked Adam and Danny, and then spent the whole season saying “you are going to be in the finals” after almost every performance they made. This is done so she can say “I told you so” at the end, but what it really does is show how she favors those two during the run of the show. She gave Danny an “A+ for effort” after his horrible scream during rock week that even he admitted was bad the following night. Guess what Paula – they are all making an effort to win. That doesn’t mean they had a good performance. So, even though I really can’t stand Clay, I do agree that a lot of people in America don’t like to be told what to think and who to vote for. I’m glad Kris won and I think they will both have successful careers.

  3. Agreed that the first portion of his comments are less than gracious…no need to slam a fellow AI alum…there were better ways to state his musical preference. But like JB said…the second part about the show he got very right. I agree that the results the other night were directly a reflection of people being sick of how the show was presented this year. The producers of AI need to wake up, or make the show about giving seasoned if unknown performers a chance, or about discovering raw talent.

  4. What a lil Bitch.I have NO respect for Clay Aiken, that was a Deliberate Backstab. He is jealous of Adam that is very clear. I find Clay to be very hipocrytical in every sence of the word. Not to mention his backwoods roots are getting to him lol What a Jerk!!
