Christian Slater on ‘King Cobra’ co-star Garrett Clayton: ‘The kid is beautiful’
Christian Slater has done many things on screen during his 30-plus year career in movies and on television.
But doing a gay sex scene with a former Disney Channel star had not been one of them.
In the new film King Cobra, Slater’s gay porn producer character gets physically intimate with his young discovery played by Garrett Clayton who Slater describes as ‘beautiful.’
The film, out on October 21, also stars James Franco and Keegan Allen as a pair of cash-strapped porn producers who will do anything – even commit murder – to get porn headliner Brent Corrigan out of his contract with the producer (played by Slater) who made him famous.
‘When James Franco asked me if I’d be interested in doing this project, I read it and thought … I really do have to think about this, this is definitely out of my wheelhouse,’ Slater told Conan O’Brien this week.
‘I did have a lot of anxiety and fear about doing something like this. But then I just said, “I’m an actor!”
‘I asked my wife and she said, “You should absolutely go do it.” So I had her support and I dove right in.’
Of his wife’s enthusiasm Slater said: ‘There was something erotic about it. I don’t know what was going on there. And then I had Garrett Clayton … and the kid is beautiful.’
Alicia Silverstone and Molly Ringwald are also in the cast of the film written and director by Justin Kelly.
The movie, based on a true story, has been a hit on the film festival circuit including Tribeca in New York and Outfest in Los Angeles.
