Check out “Channel Surfing: Charlie’s Angels” by Mike Pingel who was once Farrah Fawcett’s assistant
A book by a former employee about a famous person can always be a nightmare – just ask Anna Wintour about The Devil Wears Prada!
But Mike Pingel, who spent some time working as an assistant for the late Farrah Fawcett, adored his former boss and the other women who starred on Charlie’s Angels: Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd, Shelly Hack and Tanya Roberts.
To coincide with the DVD release of the boxed set of the entire 1976-81 series, Mike is releasing Channel Surfing: Charlie’s Angels, an updated version of his The Q (queer) Guide to Charlie’s Angels which was published in 2008.
Among the new material: A new interview with Kate Jackson, Shelly Hack’s memories of the show, an exclusive interview with Cheryl Ladd’s stuntwoman, Cis Rundle, Charlie’s Angels series inspired recipes, new guest star interviews, Charlie’s Angels landmarks and a Collectable Charlie’s Angels toys list.
It also includes the first-ever complete Charlie’s Angels TV series episode guide and has interviews with Miss Fawcett, Miss Ladd, Miss Smith, Miss Roberts and producer Leonard Goldberg.
Pingel (pictured with Fawcett and Smith, left and Hack and Roberts, below as well as with Jackson and Ladd) knows his subjects well. He is an avid collector of Charlie’s Angels memorabilia, his collection holds over 1,200+ items, was with Kate, Farrah & Jaclyn when they did their appearance on the 2006 Emmy Awards show, and was a consultant with producers Leonard Goldberg and Drew Barrymore and director McG on the 2000 Charlie’s Angels feature film.
Channel Surfing: Charlie’s Angels sells for $19.99 on Amazon.com.
Other books by Mike Pingel: Channel Surfing: Wonder Woman; The Brady Bunch: Still Groovy After All These Years; Angelic Heaven: A Fan’s Guide to Charlie’s Angels and the upcoming book Betty White Rules the World: The Ultimate (and Unauthorized) Guide to Television’s Grande Dame due out this fall.
