Celebrating Eydie Gorme on her 80th birthday
Yeah, I know today is Madonna’s birthday.
The Material Girl has turned 53.
But I’m going to shine a spotlight on a lady who can really belt out one helluva number.
She’s the great Eydie Gorme, a Grammy and Emmy winning singer who retired in 2009 but whose talent can still be enjoyed on videos and recordings. I remember seeing her a lot on variety shows in the 70s – especially on The Carol Burnett Show – often with her husband of 54 years, Steve Lawrence.
Enjoy some music from Miss Gorme!

Wow! I didn’t realize she was that “old”. One of my absolute favorite songs she did is “Blame It On The Bossa Nova”. I remember loving it when it came out in 1963 (even though I was a wee lad) and still have the 45 today!
