Celeb Tweets: Martina, Kobe, Bill Clinton and others react to NBA player Jason Collins coming out
Kobe BryantVerified account @kobebryant Proud of @jasoncollins34. Don’t suffocate who u r because of the ignorance of others #courage #support #mambaarmystandup #BYOU
Billie Jean King @BillieJKing am thrilled @JasonCollins34 was able to come out on his own terms and, as he put it, is ready to continue the conversation. This is a day of celebration for the LGBT community and for all of us. I look forward to the day when the news of anyone coming out, is a non-issue and once we reach that point we will know we have arrived.

Fantastic to read all these supportive tweets. Particularly happy to see Andy Roddick respond. I have been disheartened that I rarely hear professional male tennis players speak out on homophobia, and/or marriage equality. We know there have to be gay players on the ATP Tour. It’s a shame they still don’t feel comfortable coming out. Maybe this would happen if the top players did speak out on this topic.
Anthony says:
I applaud his bravery. It’s still not an easy task to come out these days, let alone as an active NBA player. I wish him nothing but the best.
Charlie says:
I’m happy to see positive support for Jason. So glad that an active sports athlete has finally come out while they are still playing. Hopefully he won’t be the last.
