Adam Lambert will reportedly be joining the legendary rock group Queen this summer as its lead singer at the Sonisphere Festival this summer.

Lambert would be stepping into the shoes of the late Freddie Mercury who died in 1991 and who last appeared with his band at Sonisphere.

‘The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f*****g great songs,’ Lambert reportedly told the UK’s Daily Star. ‘It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of.’

UPDATE: After reports of the collaboration were widely reported Friday, Lambert took to Twitter to say that his quotes were taken out of context and that ‘I haven’t confirmed any guest appearances.’

Lambert wrote that he was talking about when he joined the band at MTV’s EMAs in Belfast last November.

‘I’m truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions mr journalist!!’ he tweeted Friday evening.

Read more about it over at Gay Star News. Also, below is the video for Better Than I Know Myself which he unveiled online at midnight. Check it out!

Parade.com caught up with the multi-talented star and fired some questions at him. Here are some of them:

On his role as Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother, for which he received the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite TV Comedy Actor.”
“He’s a rakish, drunken, hilarious crazy man. As an actor, you most often play relatively average parts, so to get to play extreme versions of anything, those are the most exciting parts. It’s been a great blessing. He is this sort of crazy alpha male version of myself. He’s a real hoot to play.”

The cast of How I Met Your Mother also won at the People’s Choice for “Favorite Network TV Comedy.”
“I like the family and the camaraderie we have. It’s a machine that’s running really well and thankfully everyone who is there has been with us a long time. The cast hasn’t changed, the crew hasn’t changed, and everyone works very hard. Everyone’s really positive and cares about each other, and that’s relatively unique in Hollywood. I appreciate that more than anything.”

After his success in hosting the Tony Awards, what does he think about the prospect of hosting the Oscars one day?
“It’s nothing you audition for. That’s a call that would randomly come some day. It would certainly be a fun thing on the bucket list if it were to happen, but there’s no real angling towards it. It either comes your way or it doesn’t.”

On reaching his fans through Twitter.
“Everyone’s been so nice, whether they know me as Dr. Horrible or Barney Stinson or Doogie Howser. People have been very kind and respectful of the fact that I have a life that’s outside of the business, but also relatively interested in what goes on in that life. I think Twitter helps. Twitter is fun because it allows a kind of intimacy with people who want to follow you. You can toss them a funny joke or picture or story that’s unique to you and doesn’t come through the publicists and the studios. It’s just straight out of my brain, into my finger, onto my phone, and off to Twitter! It’s gotten me in trouble a couple of times, but I suppose so have other things!”

‘Realistically I can’t see my vocal cords being being ready till the summer, but then I have to think about people losing out if they are on their summer hols. So September seems the most likely,’ he writes.

While appearing with Ellen, Lambert talked about his widely-publicized arrest late last month in Finland following a drunken fight with boyfriend Sauli Koskinen.

“You know, relationships are work and I’m so lucky to have fallen in love with a great partner,” Adam said. “Everybody has their ups and downs, things happen. When you add alcohol to a situation, things can get out of control and some people can get upset and emotional. What happened was, we had too much to drink. We screwed up. There were no injuries, no violence. It was more of childish, foolish, messiness.”

“I was a little irresponsible and I think what I learned from the experience was that I owe it to myself, to my loved ones, and to my fans to be a little more adult and pull it together,” Adam added. “New Year’s resolution was like ‘OK, we’re cleaning up the act, and we’re juicing, and exercising,’ and I feel amazing.”

Wow. The February issue of OUT Magazine is a keeper!

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka grace the cover of the magazine’s love issue and each have written candid essays about how they met, how they fell in love, and how they feel about each other.

I think I believe in love again!

Here are some excerpts:

Neil on David: There’s something kinetic about him and his being. He’s classically sexy, yet he’s very much a boy in his energy. It’s a great dynamic. When I see people who are equally attractive, they tend to seem more quiet and kind of Marlboro Man-y, and David’s the antithesis of that. He’s more like Tigger. I’m, in turn, very introspective — the thinker, rather than the doer. I tend to weigh options before making decisions, and David is the polar opposite of that. We’re hyper similar and also incredibly opposite. We share a wardrobe. We have the same shoe size, body size, height, and weight. We’re both Gemini. We both like the idea of family — not a nuclear family, but a social family. Yet, we’re incredibly opposite in the way we process information.

David on Neil: We talk on the phone at least eight times a day and text at least 25 times a day. We are, in a way, very codependent. He’s my lifeline, in an amazing way. Without him, I can’t breathe. The biggest thing is that he makes me laugh, but he’s also smart. He can do everything. I’m not kidding; I think he’s half robot. He makes me a little more grounded, and I bring out the wild side in him. Don’t get me wrong — we fight. Our fights last five minutes, then we’re over it. And we’re both Gemini — we have a good twin and a bad twin, and the four of us get along really well!

Alcatraz premieres on Monday, Jan. 16.

This is the first major acting gig for Jewell since she came out publicly last year. Her stardom was seen as a real breakthrough because she has cerebral palsy,

By producing such films as Chicago and Hairspray, Neil Meron and partner Craig Zadan are largely responsible for Hollywood making movie musicals again.

They also produced the great 1993 TV movie version of Gypsy starring Bette Midler, last year’s remake of Footloose and are producers of the new show I’m most enthused about: NBC’s Smash which is about the making of a Broadway musical.

They know a little something about that too having produced last year’s Promises, Promises on Broadway starring Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth and the current hit How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

It was great to chat with Neil the other day after the Smash presentation at the TV Critics Press Tour.

I wanted to get his reaction to Kristy McNichol coming out and he said some very thoughtful things to say.

We then got into a wider discussion about gay performers and the decision about whether to be out professionally. He has known many a closeted performer and understands the factors each must weigh.

‘It is such a deeply personal thing and there are so many factors that go into it,’ he said. ‘It’s hard to coerce somebody – everybody needs to find their time and when they find that time, God bless them, it’s great.’

While there are plenty of casting agents – including gay ones – who discriminate against out performers, Meron and Zadan are two openly gay producers who welcome them.

“With us, there are jobs because we don’t discriminate,” he said. “As a matter of fact, years ago, if there was an out actor, we would go out of our way to cast that actor. I remember we did this movie after [Frasier cast member] Dan Butler came out, we wanted to hire him. It wasn’t the fact that he was gay, it’s that he was a great actor who happened to be gay. And it was great.”

It’s nice to have gay men with Neil’s clout helping to make the world a better place.

I read Sean Maher’s interview with Entertainment Weekly and found it interesting and moving. But it was the action on his Twitter account that gave me the lump in my throat which gave way to tears.

People were so supportive and just showering the 36-year-old actor with Twitter love. I watched it happening in real time and thought, ‘He must feel so good right now – so glad he went public!’

He did tweet that night: ‘Desperately want to respond to all of you. Please know that I am reading each and every one of your tweets. So emotional. Love to you all! … I can’t possibly express how overwhelmed I feel by all of the love and support. Truly amazing. From the bottom of my heart I thank you.’

When I met Sean at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center gala in November, he was such a sweet guy and still seemed so moved by all the love that had come his way since coming out.

‘I am still hearing from people who were inspired by my story and came out to their parents,’ he told me. ‘I’ve also been getting some old-fashioned fan mail from people that brought me to tears – their stories so inspire me.’

So glad to hear that George Michael was able to be released from the hospital in time to celebrate Christmas at home.

The singer talked to reporters this morning outside of his home in London:

“It was basically by far the worst month of my life, but I’m incredibly, incredibly, fortunate to be here and fortunate to have picked up this bug where I did, because apparently the hospital in Austria where they rushed me to was absolutely the best place in the world I could have been. So I have to believe that somebody still thinks I’ve got some work to do here.”

I’m back and I’m proud, though not very loud…… (which, I assure you, will be temporary!) MERRY XMAS TO ALL OF YOU! ISN’T LIFE GRAND !! X

Rosie chatted Huffington Post about a wide range of topics in an interview posted today. Here is what she has to say about Madonna:

“Madonna is my age. I don’t have that big sister reverence of looking up to her. We’re very good friends. I just saw her new movie, “W.E.” and it’s amazing. It’s a brilliant piece of work. She is probably the most talented person I have ever met in my life. You don’t get to be Madonna in this lifetime without an immense amount of talent and I think when people see this movie, that not only did she write and direct but she produced it as well, they’re going to be shocked. She’s a meteoric, once-a-generation type talent and she’s a pretty phenomenal human being as well.”

Black, a past Oscar winner for writing Milk and the writer of this year’s J. Edgar, shares some details about where he writes and what he writes on.

Black shifts coffee shops around every two hours around Hollywood.

“I’m completely over-caffeinated by the end of the day,” he says. “It’s less distracting than being alone with my thoughts in an empty office.”

He writes on a “very beat-up” Macintosh laptop: “It’s covered in food and it is disgusting.I open it up on a plane and I’m so embarrassed because it’s covered with coffee and croissant crumbs.”

Do yourself a favor and buy a ticket to David Dean Bottrell Makes Love: A One Man Show while you still can.

It is a riot.

The show will have the final two performances of its current run at Rogue Machine Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

I was in the audience a few weeks ago – NCIS’s Pauley Perrette was in the next row – and was amazed at the magic David Dean Bottrell creates with just a few props and clever lighting.

Of course, it’s all about the writing and this is a brilliantly written series of monologues about love – all kinds of love – from romantic love to parental love to friendship love and more.

“When I sat down and wrote this thing, my goal was to write it to the best of my ability, to be as honest I could be and tell every truth I could come up with,” Bottrell told me during our chat before a recent performance.

Bottrell is best known for his recurring role of Lincoln Meyer on ABC’s great series Boston Legal and recently did a guest spot on NBC’s Harry’s Law. He is also a successful writer whose screenplay became the film Kingdom Come starring Whoopi Goldberg.

“When Boston Legal came along, I had been retired from acting for more than a decade,” he said. “I would occasionally do something but I was in now way actively looking for acting work. It was out of the blue. The phone rang one day and suddenly I was on a TV show. That’s how fast it happened. That particular character was so bizarre and proved to be so popular with audiences that I suddenly got handed back my acting career on a silver platter by David E. Kelley.”

He doesn’t mind that there are some casting directors that will only call him to play psychopaths and nutcases.

“I feel kind of blessed because those parts are kind of fun to do,” he said. “They’re not as plentiful as I would like but when they do come up, I really, really dig doing them.”

But Bottrell isn’t one to sit around waiting for the phone to ring. He teaches acting classes, and also writes and directs. During the run of his one man show, he is also directing an adaptation of Graham Greene’s Travels With My Aunt at The Colony Theatre in North Hollywood.

“I’m holding up pretty well but I don’t think I’m every going to try opening two shows five days apart again,” he said. “I’ve learned my lesson.’

David Dean Bottrell Makes Love was first performed at the Comedy Central Stage and a few days later, Bottrell was sent a DVD of it.

He watched and was mortified.

“It occurred to me how much I had revealed about myself in front of a paying audience,” he said. “But the good news was, everybody laughed, nobody walked out of the theater in a huff and everybody was able to look me in the eye afterward. … The whole experience has been phenomenal for me – it really has on every level.”

“What’s been really cool about this show is that when I first started working on the show with director Jim Fall, he wanted to do a show about love. He wanted to be sure and stick to the subject and provide various on-ramps for audience members and as a result, the audiences for the show have become very diverse.”

“We get people of all kinds coming to the show, all sexual preferences, all ethnicities and so many straight guys. It’s been very gratifying.”

One thing that isn’t in the show is any mention of the chatty letters that his mother used to write to him – letters that inspired him to become a writer in the first place.

“There are no letters from my mom in the show – that’s a different show. But I became a writer because of my mother’s letters.

“She would send me these letters, back in the days when people wrote letters, that were amazing because I have a very large, very blue collar, very unlucky family. She would write these letter that would be four pages, front and back, of nothing but bad news. She was so used to that kind of life that she didn’t even notice. It would be about somebody having a miscarriage or something terrible like that then in the next paragraph about how many tomatoes there were in the garden. She was completely color blind to the fact that these letters were unintentionally hilarious. Friends in New York would gather in my apartment to hear me read these letter out loud.”

With a show all about love, is Bottrell is still open to the possibility.

“I’m a single guy, I’m a certain age. Like all single guys in my age group, it’s tricky. It’s not like when you’re a young guy when you go out there and there are a thousand possibilities,” he admits. “As a mature gay, your life is pretty well set. It’s trickier for two men who have very complete, fully formed lives to integrate. I think it’s a little trickier but the good news is, as long as you’re in the game, you have a chance of winning.”

His show has been getting a lot of repeat business and several of those people have brought a single person with them to introduce to Bottrell after the show.

“Who knows? Maybe the whole reason I did this was to get my new partner. Maybe the true love of my life will walk in and see the show.”

David Dean Bottrell Makes Love: A One Man Show is playing on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. at the Rogue Machine Theater - 5041 W. Pico Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90019. (323) 930-0747
