“Every time I make a plan, God laughs at me,” the actor once said.

As I recovered from my New Year’s Eve celebrating last night, I decided to watch the first two episodes of Are You There, Chelsea? It’s the new sitcom fr0m Chelsea Handler and set to premiere on NBC on Jan. 11.

It’s a winner and among those in the cast is this cute young actor: Jake McDorman. He plays Rick, owner of the bar where Chelsea works (Chelsea is played by Laura Prepen while Handler plays her older sister).

McDorman is 25 and most recently starred as Evan Chambers on the hit ABC Family series Greek. He has quickly amassed numerous television and film credits, including the role of convicted “Craigslist Killer” Philip Markoff in the Lifetime original film of the same name.

Other credits include a starring role on the Fox comedy Quintuplets, a recurring character on Run of the House and guest-starring roles on Cold Case, CSI: Miami and House.

McDorman also has appeared in several feature films including Live Free or Die Hard, Bring It On: All or Nothing, Aquamarine, Echoes of Innocence, My Father; Going to Parties and All in a Day.

If you’ve been watching the new ABC drama Revenge, then you know that one of the best parts of it is watching Ashton Holmes as the sexy and manipulative Tyler Barrol who will sleep with men and women to get what he wants.

The 33-year-old actor has had a few same-sex kissing scenes but expressed his disappointment at one of the more passionate one with co-star Gabriel Mann being cut.

“I have kissed a number of people on this show and the network has taken it out every time!” he told AfterElton.com last month. “I kissed Daniel (Joshua Bowman), I kissed Ashley (Ashley Madekwe), I kissed Nolan (Mann)…and every time they’ve taken it out. I think it’s kind of a cop out. I think it’s ABC not wanting to push the envelope maybe. When we shot the scene [between Tyler and Nolan] we really went for it, Gabe and I, and then it didn’t air. I don’t know. I don’t know if that’s [creator] Mike Kelley or the network but, yeah, I was real disappointed.”

Hopefully there will many kissing scenes ahead!

Prior to Revenge, the 33-year-old Holmes was best known for his performance as Jack Stall in the film A History of Violence and his role as Private Sidney Phillips in the HBO  miniseries The Pacific. He also had a recurring role on ABC’s Boston Legal and was a regular on The CW series Nikita.

I’ll be writing more about the outstanding drama Weekend later today. It screened last night at Outfest and was clearly much appreciated by the sellout crowd.

One of the stars of Weekend is a hugely talented actor named Chris New who makes his feature film debut in the movie. I was so impressed with him that I change-up my planned Morning Man line-up and moved this 30-year-old from Great Britain to the front of the list!

According to his IMDB profile, Chris trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and, after graduating in 2006, built up an impressive reputation for his stage and small screen work. He starred opposite Alan Cumming in the 2006 revival of Bent in London’s West End. He then went on to work at the National Theatre, under the direction of Sir Richard Eyre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Young Vic, The Royal Exchange and London’s Sadler’s Wells.

In 2009 he returned to the West End to star as Joe Orton in the stage adaptation of Prick Up Your Ears, and last year, Chris made his New York stage debut leading the company of Peter Nichols’ LIngua Franca which transferred to New York from London’s Finborough Theatre. He has also worked regularly for the BBC in numerous television and Radio Productions.

He’s 25 and it’s just been announced that he has joined the cast of The CW series Pretty Little Liars. Last year, he began starring as Ian Archer in the Cartoon Network live-action series Tower Prep.

Drew’s other acting credits include episodes of ABC’s Castle and ABC Family’s Greek and a co-starring role in the WB.com web series The Lake.

We’ll be keeping our eyes out for whatever Drew does in the future!

At the French Open over the weekend, five-time champion Rafael Nadal played fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar who played one heck of a match against the world number one.

The 48th ranked Andujar played inspired and aggressive tennis but still lost 7-5, 6-3, 7-6(4). Andujar’s career record was 29-41 headed into that match, and Nadal still needed more than three hours to beat him.

It sure was fun to watch Pablo play and hopefully he won’t be too deflated after failing to win the third set after being ahead 5-1 and holding eight set points.

The handsome 25 year old, who won the first ATP title of his career last month in Moracco, is currently enjoying his highest ranking ever and if his play against Nadal is any indication, he could climb even higher.

The 59-year-old actor starred alongside his dad, Dick Van Dyke, for nine seasons on CBS’s Diagnosis Murder in the role of Lt. Det. Steve Sloan. Barry also wrote and directed several episodes of the series and went on to appear  in a series of Murder 101 movies.

He was already a seasoned television veteran by the time Diagnosis Murder debuted in 1993. Barry’s other credits include supporting roles on the series Airwolf, Gunshy and Galactica 1980 as well as being a regular on the short-lived The Harvey Korman Show.

He also did guest spots on Mork & Mindy, The Love Boat, Magnum P.I., The Dukes of Hazzard, T.J. Hooker, Full House, and Murder She Wrote, among others.

The 28 year old has made a career out of being a rough, mean, hard-hitting stay-at-home defenseman. He scored his first NHL goal as a member of the Montreal Canadiens versus the Washington Capitals on March 20, 2006, where he was named the first star of the game. His willingness to stand up for his teammates and his hard-hitting style made him a fan favorite.

In July 2009, Komisarek signed a 5-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs averaging $4.5 million per season. On January 2, 2010, he injured his shoulder in a game against the Calgary Flames and it was revealed he would require season-ending surgery. This forced Komisarek to miss the 2010 Winter Olympics where he was to play for Team USA.

It wasn’t until he was 30 years old that John Terry decided to move to New York and try his luck at acting after appearing in a few local theater productions.

Before that, the man who currently plays Nora Walker’s boyfriend, Dr. Karl West, on ABC’s Brothers & Sisters had spent time building custom log homes in North Carolina then moved to Alaska where he helped to start a river rafting company.

The handsome actor, who turns 61 later this month, has worked steadily since the early 80s but has never seemed more in demand than now.

Before sweeping Sally Field’s character off her feet on Brothers & Sisters, John was best known for his recurring role on ABC’s Lost as Christian Shephard, father of the character played by series lead Matthew Fox.

His other recurring or regular roles on TV series include Trauma, Wildfire, Las Vegas, 24, ER, and Against the Grain. Film credits include Full Metal Jacket, A Killing in a Small Town, A Dangerous Woman, Blue Valley Songbird, and Zodiac.

Let’s hope Nora and Dr. Karl find lasting love!

Born with handsome looks and great talent, Rupert Everett seems determined to blame everyone but himself that he is not the biggest star on the planet.

The man who we first fell in love with in Another Country and who became an even bigger star opposite Julia Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding and also starred in An Ideal Husband and The Next Best Thing, continues to complain about the discrimination he says he faces in the film industry.

He compares his acting abilities to those of Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, and complains to the UK’s BBC’s Radio 4 that producers would say they couldn’t find a role that fit him. He says that is because he has been openly gay for most of his career.

“I never got a job there, and I never got a job here, after [coming out],” he said. “I did a couple of films, I was very lucky at the beginning of my career… and then, I never had another job here for ten years, probably, and I moved to Europe.”

“The audience has a completely perception of the performers than the business,” he adds. “But the business is what makes the stars, really. There are lots of women and lots of men in the business that the powers that be decide are the right people and they’ll stand with them for quite a long time. … Like Jennifer Aniston will just have one too many total flops. But she’s still a member of that club. And she will still manage to — like a star forming in the universe — a whole lot of things swirling around and suddenly solidifying into yet another vital tasteless romcom: a little glitter next to the Crab Nebula.”

He also disses Oscar front-runner Firth, star of The King’s Speech, for performance in the 2008 smash Mamma Mia! “Colin Firth I don’t think was at all good in Mamma Mia!.

You know, I would have thought it was almost a careericide. … On the other hand, I think (Firth’s) performance in A Single Man was the best performance of his life.”

Rupert does not have a problem with gay actors staying in the closet if they want to: “There are many of them, and I don’t blame them, it’s very sensible. If I hadn’t been someone who liked and if I hadn’t been a kind of sex maniac and all those kind of things and wanted to go to raves and circuit parties, I don’t think there’s anything to wrong with it. It would have been too complicated for me to tell the lie.”

Okay, I have no doubt that Everett has been discriminated against and could have and should have been a bigger star after 1997′s My Best Friend’s Wedding. But he does need to get on with it as so many other talented out stars like John Barrowman, Ian McKellen, Neil Patrick Harris, TR Knight, Luke Macfarlane and others have.

With his outgoing personality,  infectious smile and those darkly handsome good looks, I’m glad to see meteorologist (okay, weatherman!) Jim Castillo back on the LA scene working for KTLA.

I remember him from earlier in the decade as a weatherman for KCBS and he was just so much fun and way easy on the eyes.

In between the LA gigs, Jim went to New York to work for the Fox affiliate WNYW Channel 5.

Jim’s first gig as a meteorologist was in Columbia, Mo. Besides doing the weather, he hosted an exercise segment and once told a reporter. “They called me ‘beefcake’ at the station. They made me do an exercise segment after the weather. I loved it.”

Just what any gay couple needs: an incredibly gorgeous guy moving in nearby, stripping down, and climbing into your hot tub without asking permission.

This is how Cam and Mitchell (Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson) first encounter their new neighbor in next week’s episode of Modern Family.

The neighbor is played by the smokin’ hot James Marsden of Enchanted, 27 Dresses and Hairspray fame. I just saw the dreadful Death at a Funeral the other night on DVD and the real comic highlight was Marsden as a guy who is accidentally given acid by his girlfriend before her uncle’s funeral (she thought it was Valium).

He was just smoking hot as an aging lifeguard who had reached a crossroads in his life.

Sam could have become the first David Hasselholf and continued down the road of beach babe but the handsome stud he had something else in mind: character roles.

He has worked non-stop since then in such films as Tombstone, Mask, We Were Soldiers, Road House, Gettysburg, The Big Lebowski, Hulk, Thank You For Smoking, Up in the Air and Did You Hear About the Morgans?

Sam, who is now 66, has been married to actress Katherine Ross (The Graduate, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) since 1984. They became involved while making the 1978 film The Legacy together and went on to star in the 1981 miniseries Murder in Texas which also starred Farrah Fawcett.

But I’ll always remember Sam best as the hunky lifeguard!

Well, I have some good news: Damian has just been cast as the male lead in the HBO pilot Homeland opposite Claire Danes.

The show centers on Marine Sergeant Scott Brody (Lewis), who returns home after spending eight years as a prisoner of war in Baghdad, and Carrie Anderson (Danes), a driven CIA officer who suspects he might be plotting an attack on America, according to Deadline Hollywood.

The 39-year-old British screen and stage actor (he can do a very credible American accent) also previously appeared in HBO’s Emmy-winning World War II mini-series Band of Brothers.

One of my New Year’s resolutions has got to be to start watching HGTV!

They have got some really hot guys on there including this one: John Gidding, host of Curb Appeal: The Block.

John is an architect and interior designer  who was born in Istanbul and attended American schools in Turkey and Switzerland before entering Yale University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture.

An enthusiastic art and math student, John also earned a master’s degree in architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.

The openly gay John is 33 and before beginning his career in television, he got his start as a fashion model and worked the runways for Armani and Gucci.

Later, John put his education and design skills to work as host and designer for a TV series about hip teens looking to update their spaces. As owner of the New York City–based John Gidding Design Inc., John has done numerous residential renovations there and around the country.

One of those roles, as Mark Wahlberg’s brother in The Fighter, is going to likely earn Bale his first Academy Award nomination.

It’s hard to believe the 36-year-old actor hasn’t been nominated before when you consider his body of work and performances in such films as American Psycho and The Machinist.

He’s willing to become emaciated for a role or to become a buffed-out superhero and transform into Batman in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Christian has been acting in major films since he was a teenager. He was just 13 when he starred in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun then went on to star as a teen in the Disney musical Newsies followed by Swing Kids.

He first got my attention in the 1994 film Little Women because by then he had grown into a very handsome young man. Before breaking through as a star, Christian played gay in the glam rock film Velvet Goldmine then two years later, in 1999, starred as a sexy and creepy serial killer in American Psycho.

Of Christian’s performance in that breakthrough film, critic Roger Ebert wrote: Of Bale’s performance, he wrote, “Christian Bale is heroic in the way he allows the character to leap joyfully into despicability; there is no instinct for self-preservation here, and that is one mark of a good actor.”

So much has followed since including Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Rescue Dawn, The Prestige, 3:10 to Yuma, Public Enemies and Terminator Salvation among others.

Nest up: a third Batman film!

There are many different ways to discover a Morning Man.

Usually it’s someone I spot in a movie or on a TV show or playing a sport on television.

But this is a rare instance where I’ve discovered someone on Facebook – and I’m not even friends with him. But because Brett Henrichsen and I have nearly 100 friends in common, his handsome face popped up as a suggested friend.

I clicked on his profile to see more of that face and what I found were all kinds of photos of a guy with an amazing body to match!
