Wait a minute. Adam not not win Idol when he competed during season 8.

He was runner up against a guy named Kris Allen.

Whatever happened to him?

Kris is no doubt a nice guy, he’s very cute and he always seems to be unfailingly gracious. It’s not his fault he beat Adam out but as time goes by and Lambert’s stardom continues to grow, it just seems like such a strange result.

But Adam holds no grudge against Idol and he returned last night to the show that launched him. Here is video of Adam performing his new single Never Close Our Eyes.

It came out, I believe, after Donna Summer had her breakthrough hit Love to Love You Baby.

I don’t remember if I ever even listened to it because I came across it while snooping.

My favorite Donna Summer songs came later and I’ve posted videos of some of them today. They include On the Radio, MacArthur Park (someone left the cake out in the rain!), Bad Girls, She Works Hard for the Money and one of her later hits, This Time I Know it’s for Real.

I don’t think there is video of her performing Enough is Enough with Barbra Streisand but I loved that one too!

In this Golden Girls episode from more than 25 years ago, her roommate Blanche is fretting because her brother, George, is going to marry another man.

Blanche says she accepts her brother being gay but wonders why he and his partner want to make a big public statement about it.

Sophia asks Blanche why she wanted to marry her husband.

Suddenly Blanche realizes what a hypocrite she’s being and goes to talk to her brother.

I wish it was that easy in real life!

This video is of Rufus Wainwright telling his funny story about meeting Bea Arthur.

It was shot on April 29, 2009, four days after Miss Arthur’s death which explains why he was sharing the story at that time.

The story has gotten new life – and revealed to many of us for the first time – via a item in Village Voice a few days ago.

It is the first episode set in Hollywood during the show’s fourth season.

Arriving in Hollywood, Lucy goes star hunting at the Brown Derby, and finds William Holden in the next booth.

Later in the episode, we know that Lucy puts on putty nose that catches fire when she tries to disguise herself from the move star who she had encountered at the Brown Derby earlier in the day.

But this clip is the real gem in my opinion: the face-to-face encounter between Lucy and Holden at the restaurant. It is just brilliant comedy from the moment when Ethel is mouthing the words: “William Holden is behind you!” to when Lucy is trying to eat her spaghetti as Holden stares at her.

My favorite moment of all is when Ethel takes out a little pair of scissors to cut Lucy’s spaghetti which had gotten a little too unweildly.

Initially set to do a number from Phantom of the Opera, Kurt changes course once onstage and performs I Am Not The Boy Next Door from The Boy From Oz.

Can you believe those tight gold pants?

Well, he performed several more songs during his appearance including these two: Trespassing, the title song from his new album out May 15, and a song called Naked Love.

I Love Lucy Fridays has had a bit of a hiatus but now is back!

I’m going to try and include a little more history about each episode I feature instead of just telling you how much it makes me and my I Love Lucy BFFs, Henry and Eddie, laugh.

Today I present to you a scene from Lucy Gets In Pictures.

It is episode 116 of the series and originally aired on Feb. 21, 1955 – the fourth season of the show. Lucy, Ricky, Ethel and Fred are in Hollywood while Ricky makes a movie.

Of course Lucy wants to be in movies too so Ricky, in a rare show of support for Lucy’s showbiz ambitions, arranges for his wife to have a small role in a nightclub sequence on a film.

Lucy gets to wear a giant headdress and is supposed to get shot during a nightclub sequence.

But that headdress is just a little too heavy for her red head.

Boy, this is a beautiful video.

Called Homecoming, it was directed by filmmaker Mike Buonaiuto and produced to help the Coalition for Equal Marriage.

According to UK’s Pink News, the short film shows British forces returning home to their loved ones, with the reunion of one soldier and his partner soon turning into a surprise marriage proposal.

You seen the photos, now you can see the moment for yourself when Cher showed up at the GLAAD Awards on Saturday night to present her son Chaz Bono with an award.

Cher slipped up on the “he” and “she” pronouns – especially when talking about Chaz as a child, when he was the female Chastity.

Like her son, Cher spoke off-the-cuff and from heart:

“The other day I was having a big meltdown and Chaz said, ‘Are you going to come to the [GLAAD Media Awards],’ and I went ‘Chaz, you know, I’m not doing well right now.’ And… he texted me and said ‘I turned into a very understanding, smart man and you can call on me.’  And it made me feel so good, like I could lean on someone.  It touched my heart.”

We’ve been teased for a few months now with sexy stills from Magic Mike.

Now comes the trailer to really work us into a lather.

Set in the world of male strippers, Magic Mike is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Channing Tatum.

The film follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money. Also starring Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Mangianello, Olivia Munn, Riley Keough, Cody Horn and Adam Rodriguez. Magic Mike hits theaters June 29.

Sam, adorable even with a mullet, has just posted video of the appearance as a tribute to Clark who died today at the age of 82. Dick’s post-performance interview with a breathless Sam starts at the 3:50 mark.

I will be posting my recap of four splendid days at the TCM Classic Film Festival later today.

But I will tell you now that one of my favorite movies from the festival was screened Sunday at Grauman’s Chinese Theater: Rio Bravo.

This 1959 Western is about small-town sheriff (John Wayne) in the American West and he enlists the help of a cripple (Walter Brennan), a drunk (Dean Martin) and a young gunfighter (Ricky Nelson). The sheriff also finds time for romance with a beautiful young widow (Angie Dickinson).

As I was watching the film, I thought to myself, “They’ve got two of the most successful singers in history – Ricky Nelson and Dean Martin – in dramatic roles. What a pity we don’t get to hear them sing.”

But we DO! I had never seen the film so was not aware of this little sing-along.

Loved it and you will too.

I love when Anderson Cooper dissolves into a giggle fit during The Ridiculist portion of his CNN show.

It happened again last night when he was talking about Dyngus Day. He appears to be doing just great until he says the words “Pussywillow branch.”

When Rosie O’Donnell tried to save the show by moving to a one-on-one format, Kathy Griffin was her first guest.

What followed was a remarkable two-part interview over two entire shows.

Griffin is not “on” at all during this chat and neither is Rosie. They are just two very good friends have a conversation about career, about childhood, family, self-image, famous friends and much more.

Kathy is completely open about a depression she had recently suffered, her first serious bout, after a break-up and the end of her My Life on the D-List show. Among those who were of great help was Jane Fonda who had Kathy over, made her “the worst quesadilla” and gave her loads of helpful advice.

Anyway, I present to you the entire interview because it is really that good. If you have the time and like these two ladies, you do not want to miss a single moment.

Seann is best known for his role at Steve Stifler in the American Pie movies – a role he reprises this weekend in American Reunion.

The 35-year-old cutie pie also stars in the new film Goon.

My three favorite movies of Seann’s are Road Trip (a scene in the hospital where he receives an exam is priceless), Dude, Where’s My Car? (a must-see make-out scene with Ashton Kutcher) and Role Models, an unfairly overlooked comedy that he starred in with Paul Rudd and Jane Lynch.

Brad Pitt fell in love with New Orleans in the early 90s and he has been doing a lot to help rebuild the 9th Ward which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. On her recent trip to New Orleans, Ellen DeGeneres met up with  Pitt to tour the 9th Ward. Brad’s organization, “Make It Right,” has done incredible work to rebuild.

“I’m getting far too much credit for this,” Pitt says of the project, which has constructed 75 houses so far. “This took a lot of very smart people coming in and attacking the situation. It took the families determined to come back [after Hurricane Katrina] and their resilience and they’re defining what this thing was going to be. I get far too much credit for bringing some really smart people together.”

It is especially interesting near the end of the video when Pitt explains how he came up with the name “Make It Right.”

Some guys don’t have any rhythm. Prince Harry isn’t one of those guys. Here he is the handsome prince dancing in Jamaica. It is adorable.
