Carrie Fisher had several drugs – including heroin and cocaine – in her system when she died

Carrie Fisher had heroin and other drugs in her system at the time of her death last December, according to an autopsy report released today.

The author and Star Wars icon’s primary cause of death was sleep apnea but the report concludes that drugs were a contributing factor.

In addition to heroin, other drugs found in Fisher’s body were cocaine, methadone, and ecstasy.

Fisher, 60, went into cardiac arrest while on a flight from London to Los Angeles last December 23.

‘Based on the available toxicological information, we cannot establish the significance of the multiple substances that were detected in Ms. Fisher’s blood and tissue, with regard to the cause of death,’ the report states.

Fisher was also taking the prescription drugs Prozac, Abilify and Lamictal as well as oxycodone. She did not have a prescription for the oxycodone.

Fisher had a long history of drug use which she chronicled in such books as Postcards From the Edge and Wishful Drinking.

She also had bipolar disorder which she also wrote about and spoke publicly about extensively.

Fisher had been especially busy in the weeks before her death promoting her latest book The Princess Diarist about the filming of the original Star Wars film.

Fisher is the daughter of beloved movie legend Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher. A grieving Reynolds died a day after her daughter after suffering a stroke. She was 84.

Fisher’s gay fan base grew over the years especially after the success of her book Postcards From the Edge which was turned into a movie starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine.
