http://projectqatlanta.com/images/uploads/modern-family-cam-mitchell-abc.jpgAfter avoiding each other’s lips during the first season of ABC’s hit comedy Moder Family, gay couple Cameron and Mitchell will kiss sometime soon, according to told E! Online’s Mark Malkin.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the out actor who plays Mitchell, told Malkin “Don’t expect a Gone With the Wind type of thing happening, I know the fans would like that. We’re doing an episode about Mitchell’s fear of PDA, so it’s not the kiss episode per se, but yeah. It’s going to be a really poignant, beautiful thing but less of an ordeal than people think it is.”

Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cam, added that we’ll most likely see the highly anticipated liplock on the second season’s fourth episode, saying, “It’s a sweet moment for our show, not just a sweet moment for Mitch and Cam.”

Both Ferguson and Stonestreet are up for the outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series Emmy on Sunday against co-star Ty Burrell and two openly gay actors: Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Chris Colfer (Glee).

The screen couple’s lack of affection drew fire from enough viewers that a Facebook campaign was launched while openly gay Glee creator Ryan Murphy even weighed in with criticism last month talking to a group of us at the TV Critics Assn. Summer Press Tour.

‘Why aren’t these characters kissing?” he asked. “Don’t they have a child?’ That’s ridiculous to me. I don’t understand it.”
