Britney Spears reunited with former duet partner who comes out to her during audition for “X Factor”
Of course we’re all eager to see how Britney Spears will do as one of the judges on The X Factor this fall.
Some people are predicting a train wreck but so far, Miss Spears seems to be doing just fine and was involved in a touching reunion during this week’s audition rounds in San Francisco.
One of the contestants was a guy named Don Philip, a singer who performed a duet with Britney on the ballad I Will Still Love You from her 1999 debut album, …Baby One More Time.
Britney’s eyes reportedly lit up when she saw Philip and she told fellow panelists Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Demi Lovato: “I know him … We did a duet together 10 years ago.”
Things got emotional when Phillip revealed to the judges and audience, “I’m gay. At the time I didn’t think I was worth … I didn’t think you thought it was OK that I am gay.”
Britney was quick to voice her support for Phillip, saying: “I think it is fine you are gay.”
But the audition did not go well, according to MTVNews.com.
“Tonight i might have sealed my music career fate according to a certain music mogul. I tried to just be real and instead it totally got turned around on me,” Philip wrote in a Facebook post. “Perhaps this was not the place for me to reveal my very soul and obstacles of my past. Certainly not the place for a reunion … I promise I only had good intentions in mind.”
He said his voice “froze” when he began to sing and “when I looked into the very eyes of my old label mate and saw she too was sad. I knew the whole situation was spinning out of control.. my heart broke.”
